What a sad state to be in. Nothing lackluster is good. Lackluster relationship. Lackluster attitude at work or in school… May God save us from lackluster attitude!
Hebrews 5:11 “We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand.”
5:11 I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you’ve picked up this bad habit of not listening. (Message Bible)
Lackluster means lacking interest. Lacking passion. Lacking excitement. Lacking inspiration. Lacking vitality. Not good and not exciting. Not showing energy or effort. Unmoved, unmotivated and resigned. May God save me from being a lackluster Christian!
Coming late to church and feeling no guilt, no care no concern about it. Not worried about what they missed by being late. Not worried that it is embarrassing to come late. Not worried that leaders have urged time keeping. The attitude and mannerisms of lackluster. May God save me from being a lackluster Christian!
A lackluster believer can’t respond to calls to help the church. No amount of pleading will help them love the poor and give some offerings to help them. No amount of preaching and cajoling will cause them to give more, which they have, for an evangelistic mission. They will attend the church and never participate in building it, nor seem excited when it’s completed. May God save me from being a lackluster Christian!
No sermon moves them, they all sound the same. Sermon addresses an issue in their life and they feel nothing nor get moved. A powerful sermon or a boring sermon all is the same for them. May God save me from being a lackluster Christian!
The Bible in our text today, tells us that such believers no longer try. They no longer try to understand or get involved. They no longer try, they are resigned to whatever happens. A lackluster believer is one who has given up and no longer tries. May God save me from being a lackluster Christian!
A lackluster Christian cannot explain any teachings of the church they attend. They chose the church and no longer try to learn fundamentals of the church. They do not know the teachings, but the worst part is they are okay with not knowing, and they don’t care. May God save me from being a lackluster Christian!
The church may have new programs which they don’t know about and don’t care to know. The Bible says, they no longer try. New slogans that they wonder what’s it’s all about and they have no interest to know. Trying to know is too much for them. May God save me from being a lackluster Christian!
Revelation 3:15 “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!”
Revelation 3:16 “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
John the Revelator tells us that at the end of time, which is now, the church will have a lackluster attitude. Neither hot on God’s side nor cold on Satan’s side. In church but being neither actively for God nor actively evil. Lackluster church members!
God says He can no longer tolerate lackluster believers! God says He will eject them from the church as one spits something out from their mouth. May God save us from being lackluster Christians, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
