Exodus 8:9 – Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, EXCEPT FOR THOSE THAT REMAIN IN THE NILE .”
Exodus 8:10 – “Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said. Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the LORD our God.
Exodus 8:11 – The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; THEY WILL REMAIN ONLY IN THE NILE.”
Attention to details means you don’t ignore small details. You attend to all details. You don’t speak in generalities. It means you are clear and specific.
When praying one may be tempted to think that since God knows everything, we do not have to give all the details. Why give details when He knows everything? The message today is that we need attention to details while praying.
Moses is speaking to Pharaoh about the plague of frogs that came because Pharaoh was obstinate to God’s will. Pharaoh begs that the frogs are removed. Moses promises to pray to God and ask Him to remove the frogs that were now a nuisance to Pharaoh EXCEPT FOR THOSE IN THE NILE.
Moses repeats that the only frogs that won’t be removed are those that are in the River Nile. Frogs belong to the River and not in people’s houses. Those in the houses and all over the place will be removed by God. However, God is requested by Moses, not to remove the frogs in the River Nile.
Why are details necessary when praying? Why must we be specific when praying? Why that clear clarification that except those in River Nile?
Those who pray in details have great faith in God. They believe that God is able to clear all frogs from everywhere and make them extinct. Therefore, because of their faith in God’s power, they pray with details of what they expect to happen. They ask God to remove all frogs EXCEPT FOR THOSE IN THE NILE.
John 11:43 – When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
While raising Lazarus from death, Jesus called out his name. If Jesus had said dead person come out, all dead people would come out. Jesus added the detail of Lazarus’s name. Prayer needs attention to details.
Mark 10:51 – “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
The blind man asked Jesus for help. That was too general. Which help? Clothes? Food? Shelter? Which help do you need? Give details. What do you want me to do for you? Prayer needs attention to details.
You pray for success. What success? Success has a range, which part of the range of success are you asking for? The lower part or middle or high? Be detailed!
How would you know that God has answered your prayer if you are not detailed? Without details you would be asking for anything. When anything is given you won’t know and won’t appreciate. Be detailed as much as possible!
Matthew 26:39 – Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane prayed that the cup is taken away. He didn’t just pray that help me in this situation. He prayed for the cup to be taken away. Then surrendered to God’s will. Be detailed but let God have the final answer.
Routine prayers lack detail. God help us today. Yet prayer shouldn’t be routine, it should be us talking to our friend God. Tell Him specifics of your day and expectations. God today am bored and don’t even know what to do, help me get organized and focused. Be detailed in order to move from routine empty prayers to a real walk with God. That is why prayers should be detailed.
Dear God, teach us how to pray. Teach us to trust You. Help us to move from routine prayers to a real talk and walk with You. Help us to be detailed but with enough faith to let your will be done. In Jesus’s name, Amen!

The Lazarus part is very interesting. That Jesus had to call him by his name.
Or else…. Everyone dead would have arisen! Come to think of it
