Matthew 9:32-34 (NIV) – 32 While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus. 33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. THE CROWD WAS AMAZED and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” 34 BUT THE PHARISEES said, “It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.”
Two groups went to meet Jesus. The first group was the general crowd. The second group were the Pharisees. The crowd came to see who Jesus was and what He could do. They were open to learning more about Jesus. The Pharisees felt like Jesus was competing with them. The Pharisees looked at Jesus as an opponent who drew disciples from them. The Pharisees hated Jesus. They came to disrupt Jesus and embarrass Him. They came to find evidence against Jesus.
The crowd had made no conclusion about Jesus. They were open to learning. They wanted to see and hear for themselves before drawing a conclusion. The Pharisees had made earlier conclusions that Jesus wasn’t good. They hated Jesus. Their earlier conclusions about Jesus guided them on how they interpreted everything that Jesus did.
Matthew 12:14 (NIV) – But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.
Matthew 22:15 (NIV) – Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words.
The Pharisees wanted to kill Jesus. They followed Jesus as a strategy in seeking an opportunity to kill Him. The Pharisees also wanted to trap Jesus using the words Jesus taught. Therefore, when Pharisees were listening keenly, they were not learning or interested in the teachings, they were fault finding. The Pharisees had concluded earlier that Jesus is bad, therefore they followed Him to harm Him instead of learning from Him. Their earlier conclusions made them unteachable.
Mark 12:37 (NIV) “…The large crowd listened to him with delight.”
The crowd had no earlier conclusions about Jesus. They followed Jesus to learn. They followed Jesus to see the miracles. Clearly they enjoyed the lessons. The crowd was teachable because they had no earlier conclusions.

Two groups followed Jesus. The crowd and the Pharisees. They both witnessed Jesus healing a demon possessed man who could not walk. The man recovered instantly and walked home. The crowd that had no earlier conclusions was amazed and happy. The Pharisees who had earlier conclusions that Jesus is an enemy, quickly concluded that Jesus wasn’t using demonic powers. The reactions of the two groups depended on whether they had earlier conclusions. The Pharisees were unteachable because they had made earlier conclusions!
If you have negative earlier conclusions, you will never enjoy worship. As others enjoy the worship, you get irritated by what is happening. As others learn from the preacher, you highlight the preacher’s short falls. As others receive blessings pronounced by leaders, you focus on the thoughts that they are corrupt and immoral. Your earlier conclusions make you unblessable (sic) and unteachable.
If you have earlier negative conclusions, you will treat everyone as a witch. You will treat every problem as a result of witchcraft. You will always be paranoid that some people want to destroy you. You will live in fear all days of your life. You will be unhappy, anxious and afraid. You will be unteachable because of your earlier conclusions!
If you have negative earlier conclusions, you will never be happy in your marriage or other relationships. You will conclude what is said and done based on your negative earlier conclusions. You won’t be helped. You won’t be corrected. You won’t be happy. Your earlier conclusions will make you unteachable.
Do you have conclusions you made earlier that prevent you from learning Bible truths? Do you have an earlier made conclusion about the Sabbath, that has prevented you from learning about the Sabbath? What earlier conclusions have you made that have made you unteachable?
Do you have earlier conclusions that have made difficult for you to relate with others? Your relationships at work, in the family, with friends and in the neighborhood are suffering. You can’t adjust you can’t be advised. What earlier conclusions have you made that have made you unteachable?
May God help us to do away with negative conclusions that we made earlier and are preventing our learning and affecting our relationships. In Jesus name, Amen!
