Doctrine & Prophecy

Sound teaching, hard passages, prophecy, and errors to avoid.

  • The Best Preachers Have Killed The Gospel?

Our preaching in the past has lifted up wisdom and eloquence. Our choice of preachers in the past has lifted up wisdom and eloquence. Our celebration of preachers we love has shown that we prefer wisdom and eloquence. Ultimately the gospel has become a casualty as we prefer great preachers to the gospel. Our worship events and meetings seem to be in need of wisdom and eloquence more than the gospel. Consequently amongst us, the gospel has lost its power. The best preachers have killed the gospel?

  • The Knowledge of God Boosts Our Intelligence

Intelligence is not a result of only wide reading or genetic advantage from parents. Intelligence is also a result of conversion and faithfulness to Jesus. If you are faithful to God and are hardworking, God will give you mental abilities you never thought you ever possessed. If you abandon God you lose them. Faithfulness to God maintains your mental competence. The knowledge of God boosts our intelligence!

  • Obedience That Comes From Faith

Why does Paul say obedience comes from faith? Do Christians need obedience? Obedience to what? Isn’t faith enough for a believer? Why should faith give birth to obedience? If faith doesn’t give birth to obedience it seems it may be fake faith. What does Paul mean when he tells us that obedience comes from faith?

  • Seven Facts About the Disciples of Jesus

All disciples of Jesus are also the modern-day Israelites because they are Abrahams’s seed. All believers are therefore Israelites not by birth but by faith. Therefore messages to Israel in scripture refer to the past Israelites and everyone who believes in our present time.

  • You Won’t Know This But You Will Receive This

All the three ways in which the world ends cannot be known by date and time. No one can know the date and time when Jesus will come. No amount of prophecy study would yield that date. Nobody knows when they will die, that is a secret reserved for God. Nobody knows when probation will close for them or for the whole world. Nobody knows the date or time of the end of the world by any means. You won’t know about times and dates, but, you will receive the power to witness!

  • Mercy! This Was Mercy?

God answers this prayer and the Bible records it as mercy. Nobody deserves mercy. If you deserve it, it is no longer mercy but a right. Mercy is never a right. Mercy is at the discretion of the one showing mercy. To be shown mercy suggests that we were guilty and deserved punishment. You can’t show mercy to a person who is holy, perfect, and ever right.

  • Even Good People Can Have Bad Experiences

Bad things can happen to us because we are bad people, or we are in a bad place, or both. When we are bad, bad things happen to us, as punishment and God’s displeasure. However, bad things can also happen because we are in a world of sin, we are in a bad place. Zechariah and Elizabeth were not bad people, but they were in a bad place, a world of sin. Because we are all in a world of sin which is a bad place, bad things can happen to any of us whether we are good or bad. Even good people can have bad experiences!

  • Jesus Strongly Warned Him, “Don’t Tell Anyone!”

Is the man to blame for ruining Jesus’ ministry in that village? Yes. Is everything lost because of his negligence? No. The Bible tells us that though Jesus stayed out of the village, people still came looking for him. God is able to ensure our mistakes do not create permanent damage. God is able to perform miracles that we desperately need after messing up. God always steps in and rescues the situation. The man messed up but Jesus still preached to the people of the village though from outside. Jesus strongly warned him, “don’t tell anyone!”

  • What It Means To Teach With Authority

It is important to minimize references to school or teachers that expose the possibility that since we left school we have not read further or learned anything else. “My professor told me” “When I attended this college or that one.” A once in a while reference is necessary, but if it is your only source of authority there is a problem. We must grow up and be of age, and say what we think and not just what we were told.
