2 John 1:11
Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.
Apostle John tells the church that false teachers exist within it. He warns the church not to be misled by false teachers who seem advanced and have the latest current knowledge, 2 John 1:9.
Apostle John tells the church that the original seemingly old school teachings are the standard to test anyone. If someone has an issue with the fundamental beliefs, that person is a fraud, 2 John 1:10. If we don’t agree on basics, on fundamental beliefs then we are not on the same side.
If we can’t agree on the Trinity. If we can’t agree on the divinity of the Holy Spirit. If we can’t agree that Jesus is God. If we can’t agree that we need to return tithes and offerings even today. If we can’t agree on basics then we are on opposite sides and do not belong to the body of Christ that is preparing for the end of time.
In an amazing turn, Apostle John even stops the church members from entertaining these false teachers of the latest unknown gospel. These teachers who know better than the whole church. These teachers claim to be humble but conduct themselves with an attitude of knowing everything better than everyone.
Apostle John tells the church that whoever entertains them is part of them. If you accommodate them you have entertained them. If you feed them you have entertained them. If you give them a chance to share their confusing teachings because you think you are open-minded, you have entertained them. Apostle John inspired by God tells us that to entertain them is to be part of them!
Anyone who welcomes them shares their wicked ways. At this point, all secret sympathizers are exposed. When it comes to eternal matters we must be clearly decided and belong to Christ completely. We should not entertain those whose aim is to confuse and mislead. If you entertain you can’t be neutral!
You can’t entertain your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend and claim to be neutral and only act humanely. Entertaining means you still love them. Entertaining means you are not fully committed to your current spouse. If you entertain you can’t be neutral!
You can’t entertain a member of the opposite gender in your personal space in personal ways and claim neutrality. Entertainment means you have some interest. Knowingly or unknowingly you are attracted to each other. The frequency of communication and contact is a sign of emotional attachment. That entertainment of frequent communication and late-night calls means emotional attraction. If you entertain you can’t be neutral!
If you entertain what and those you shouldn’t, it means you are committed to two sides. Anyone committed to two sides doesn’t progress or ends up losing both. Anyone committed to two will always lose that which they shouldn’t have and will end up regretting it. You will lose the true teachings and church. You will lose a better life partner. If you entertain you can’t be neutral!
May God give us a permanent resolve to choose one side in every aspect of life so that we progress and prosper in real tangible ways, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
