Your Punishment Will End

Lamentations 4:22
Your punishment will end, Daughter Zion;
he will not prolong your exile.
But he will punish your sin, Daughter Edom,
and expose your wickedness.

Jeremiah tells Israelites that they are suffering because it is a punishment. They are being punished for their many sins. Every misfortune they have faced is a punishment for their sins. Their suffering and crisis are a result of sin, it is a punishment!

Even the best army and well-trained soldiers will not solve their insecurity problems because it is a punishment for sin. Even if all world finance gurus put their heads together it will not solve their financial problems because it is a punishment for sin. No medical facilities or experts will resolve their health problems, even medications and procedures that work for others will not work for them, because this is a punishment for sins!

Can you imagine having problems and no solution working? Others with similar problems are easily resolving them but for you, nothing works. This was the situation in Israel. The prophet Jeremiah told them nothing they try will work, in fact, their situation will get worse. This is because their problem is a punishment for sin. Punishment for sin can only be solved by confession and repentance.

After trying everything and finally realizing that this is a punishment for sin, Israelites surrendered to the will of God. They stopped wasting time on solutions that don’t work. They focused on having a good genuine relationship with God since you can’t fool God. At this point, a message comes from God. Your punishment will end!

This is the best news ever. Our punishment will end. Your financial problems are a punishment for sin. Your punishment will end. Your relationship problems are a punishment for sin. God says your punishment will end. Your ill health is a punishment for sin. God says your punishment will end. Your failures, losses, disappointments, and frustration are a punishment for sin. God says your punishment will end!

What a promise! What a hope! Your punishment will end. We are victims of sin and we are experiencing punishment for sin. May our punishment end soon, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
