John 5:17
In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”John 5:19
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; HE CAN DO ONLY WHAT HE SEES HIS FATHER DOING, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
When you have an example to follow it makes it easier to do the right thing. Teachers give examples when explaining new concepts. Examples are powerful learning methods and tools.
1 Peter 2:21
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, LEAVING YOU AN EXAMPLE, that you should follow in his steps.
Jesus lived a life on earth that set an example for us. We are to live as Jesus lived. If we want to see a practical way of living the Christian life, we look at the exemplary life of Jesus.
John 5:19 tells us that Jesus follows the example of what God the Father does. We follow the example of Jesus as He follows the example of God the Father. We, therefore, have a solid reliable example to follow in our day-to-day life.
1 Corinthians 11:1
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
Apostle Paul was a church leader and believer like all of us. Apostle Paul tells the church in Corinth that they should follow his example of living, as he follows the example of Christ. That means we are to only follow people whose example does not conflict with the example of Christ. Our religious leaders that we follow are to be constantly compared to Christ. They must follow Christ!
A believer must follow the example of leaders who do not contradict Christ. Leaders must follow the example of Christ. Christ follows the example of God the Father.
John 5:17 tells us that God is always working. Jesus says that He too is always working. God the Father is always working. God the Son follows the example of God the Father and He too is always working. Always at work is the example we have!
Therefore church leadership should always be working. Church members should always be working. All believers must be known as people who are always working. Always at work is the example we have!
Church members are not idlers. Church members don’t procrastinate about what they must do. Church members are not lazy. Church members may have holidays and vacations but they are known as people who are always working. They have a tight agenda that keeps them always working. Always at work is the example we have!
Church members don’t feign sickness to avoid work. Church members don’t ask for fictitious days offs to avoid work. Church members do not hop from one pleasure to another at the expense of work. All believers, like their leaders, like Jesus, and like God the Father are always at work. Always at work is the example we have!
Work is an activity that is productive in the end. It produces value. It produces money. It has results. It achieves certain goals. It satisfies certain needs. It has a meaningful purpose it seeks to achieve. Always working means always being productive. Always at work is the example we have!
Dear God, save us from the spirit and attitude that avoids work. Empower us to follow the given example of always being at work, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
