He Wants to Hear You Laughing and See You Rejoicing

Job 8:21 (NIV) – He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.

Job 8:21 (Message Bible) – God will let you laugh again; you’ll raise the roof with shouts of joy,

Job 8:21 (Contemporary English Version) – And so, he will make you happy and give you something to smile about.

Job 8:21 (Good News Translation ) – He will let you laugh and shout again,

Bildad and friends have come to comfort Job. This is because Job has lost all wealth, all children and his wealth. Bildad’s perspective on why Job is suffering is wrong but statements he makes about God and His plans for humanity are true and worth reflecting.

Bildad tells Job that God will always bless and empower righteous people. Bildad tells Job that God cannot bless a sinful person. Bildad is wrong in thinking that Job is suffering because he has committed a certain sin. Bildad is right in declaring that God blesses the righteous and not the wicked.

Job 8:20 (NIV) – “Surely God does not reject one who is blameless or strengthen the hands of evildoers.

Job 8:20 (Message Bible) – “There’s no way that God will reject a good person,
and there is no way he’ll help a bad one.

Job 8:20 (New Living Translation) – “But look, God will not reject a person of integrity, nor will he lend a hand to the wicked.

Bildad tells Job that if you are a bad person, a wicked person or an evildoer, you will continue suffering. That is true. Then Bildad tells Job that if you are a man of integrity, a good person or a blameless person, God will bless you!

How will God bless a good person? God will make sure the good person lives a life of laughter and rejoicing. God’s plan is that you spend your life laughing and rejoicing. That is what God wants to see.

Isn’t this a good God? A God who wants me to spend my time having a hearty laughter. A God who wants to see me rejoicing. May this will of God be done in my life immediately. 

Bildad tells Job that the good people may not laugh now but they will. The good people may not rejoice now, but they will. Do not give up now, happiness is around the corner. God will make it happen!

Happiness is the goal of life. True happiness without pretense or regret. True happiness that lasts. This is what God has prepared for us in the near future and in eternity. May the near future be even today!

Sometimes God has been presented as one who all He wants is to see us following rules meticulously. One who wants to see as in a somber mood that is interpreted as reverence. One who wants us praying only and fasting. One who wants us to constantly worry about Him punishing us in eternal fire. One who enjoys seeing us worry about eternity as a person who walks on a rope worries about falling. This is a wrong picture of God.

Yet our God wants to see us laughing. He wants us happy. He wants us rejoicing. He wants us smiling. He is pleased when we are happy. Isn’t this a better God? This is who our God is.

Philippians 4:4 (NIV) – Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

God’s will and plan for you and me is happiness. God wants us happy. May His will be done for us today. May we experience happiness today!

Psalms 30:5 (NIV) – For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; WEEPING MAY STAY FOR THE NIGHT, BUT REJOICING COMES IN THE MORNING.

Psalms 30:5 (Message Bible) – He gets angry once in a while, but across a lifetime there is only love. THE NIGHTS OF CRYING YOUR EYES OUT GIVE WAY TO DAYS OF LAUGHTER.

If you are not happy today, it’s not permanent. The suffering you are going through will usher in happiness. You are going through a night and a morning of happiness is coming. Morning will come!

May the morning of happiness come soon for you and me. May God help us during the unhappy painful anxious night. May God help us not to give up. May we remember that the morning of happiness is coming soon. Every passing day in sadness is taking us closer to the morning of happiness. God’s will is that we laugh and rejoice. May it happen even today. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
