2 Kings 5:1
Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the LORD had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.
2 Kings 5:3
She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”
An interruption is that which disturbs a flow of things. If our attention was on one thing, an interruption takes our attention elsewhere. Because of interruptions, a good story is spoilt. Because of interruptions, we get saved from a boring situation.
The story of Naaman gets interrupted. He is a good soldier. He is a loyal soldier. He is a successful soldier. But, Naaman had leprosy. Leprosy interrupted his good story.
We live in a world where our good stories keep getting interrupted. It’s not just you who gets interrupted it’s all of us. You study and pass exams very well then you are interrupted by a long search for a job. You have a great relationship but it’s interrupted by infidelity. You have a lot of savings but they are interrupted by major spending when sickness comes. The story of life keeps getting interrupted. Naaman had a good story but it was interrupted by a serious disease – leprosy!
As Naaman struggled with leprosy it became the story of his life. As leprosy advanced it became the story of his life. As people gossiped about him, it became the story of his life. Then by God’s grace that sad story was interrupted by a message from a servant girl he got from Israel. The servant girl interrupts the sad story by claiming that Naaman’s leprosy could get healed in Israel. Good news interrupts a sad story.
When we belong to God He will ensure the bad news that interrupted our good story will also get interrupted by good news. We need to pray that the bad interruption we got will also get a good interruption. By God’s grace, bad interruptions are not final. Even death will get interrupted by resurrection.
Dear God, thank you for allowing bad interruptions in my life, may good interruptions follow as soon as possible and be final, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
