It Is A Boomerang!

Esther 7:10
So they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. Then the king’s fury subsided.

What you plan and do for others is a sure boomerang. A Boomerang is a tool that is designed to come back to the one who throws it. When thrown it takes a curved path as it goes so that it lands back to the one who threw it. To boomerang is used in day to day talk to refer to a bad plan that eventually harms the planner more than the one it was directed to harm. What you plan and do for others is a sure boomerang!

When a plan boomerangs, it means the one who planned the harm for another has been harmed. He intended to harm others but he has been harmed instead. It is a boomerang!

Haman hated Jews and Mordecai in particular. He planned with his friends and neighbors that Mordecai should be hanged. He even designed and built a hanging facility. He was sure that his closeness to the king will make it easy for him to execute the plan to hang Mordecai and later on a massacre of all Jews. Unknown to Haman, the queen Esther was a cousin to Mordecai and she had heard the plan. At the opportune time, Esther informed the King that Haman wanted to kill her and her people. The king was so furious. Someone informed the king that Haman had even prepared a pole to hang Mordecai. The king ordered that Haman gets hanged on the very pole he prepared for someone else. It is a boomerang!

Haman planned and expected Mordecai his enemy to die by hanging so that he celebrates, At the end of his plans it is Haman who died by hanging, and Mordecai and Jews celebrated. The plans turned against him and harmed him. The plans boomeranged on him. It is a boomerang!

Matthew 7:2
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

According to the words of Jesus, the boomerang is a law like the law of gravity, it must come to pass. Boomerang does not happen sometimes or in some cases, it happens all the time. Every good and evil plan you put in place for others will surely happen to you in the exact manner you planned for others. It is not just a law of nature, it is a law of God. God sees to it that it happens that way. God ensures that you suffer the very consequences you intended for others. It is a boomerang!

When God promises that it will happen, it indeed does happen. Nothing can stop God’s promise from being achieved. God has promised a boomerang on everything we do, plan, and execute for others. From Job’s case, we learn that not every evil thing happening to a person is a boomerang. Some evil things are just the devil designed to test our faith. However, no evil and good thing we plan for others will fail to boomerang. While the temptation of our faith is sure to happen, boomerang too is sure to happen. Therefore we must examine ourselves, the misfortune we suffer today, is it temptation or boomerang of our own plans and intentions?

You plan to embarrass someone, you will be embarrassed. You plan to punish, you will be punished. You do it openly, it will be done openly. You do it secretly, it will be done secretly. You make it look normal, it will be made to look normal. God has promised that it is a boomerang!

You forgive someone, you will be forgiven. You favor those who do not deserve, you will be favored when you do not deserve. You protect others, you will be protected. You make others happy, you will be made happy. God promises to ensure that it is a boomerang!

Look at your life today, can you handle the boomerang of what you are doing for others? What you are doing to your students will happen to you in an exact manner very soon. What you are doing to your unsuspecting customers, will be done to you when you do not suspect. What you are doing to your business employees, will happen to you in this very life. What you are doing to your households will happen to you in this life. What you are doing to the less privileged around you who have no means or ways to retaliate, will happen to you. What you are doing to beggars to uplift them will happen to you. You have made so many people cry, you will cry. You have made so many people glad, you will be made glad by so many people. You will not die or escape the boomerang effect. It is a boomerang!

For the many good things we have done, the boomerang is no big deal. But for the heartaches and heartbreaks, we caused. But for the disappointments we caused others. For the secret mischief. For the secret endless meetings. For the false information, we shared to harm others. For the gossip. For the slander. For the anonymous embarrassment through the mail. For the determined efforts, we put in place to cause pain. For the tears and sighing and regret others went through because of us. For these and many other wrong things, the boomerang should be very very scary news! Yet it is an unavoidable law. It is a boomerang!

Dear God thank you for the warning that what I am doing for others will boomerang. This comforts me for the many good things I think I have done. But God, I am stiffly scared for the many evil things I have done and planned for others. If the boomerang is on the way, then I have a very rough ride coming in the future. I plead for the blood of Jesus. Give me the opportunity and courage to mend fences with those I have harmed. Today I drop all the evil plans against others to avert the consequent boomerang effect. Every time I am mad with rage against others and I Plan evil, remind me of the boomerang effect. When I have the opportunity to do good, remind me of the boomerang effect. When I feel invincible, remind me of the boomerang effect. Remind me of the boomerang effect, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
