Missing This Perspective Means Missing Everything

1 Thessalonians 5:3
While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

1 Thessalonians 5:4
But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

A perspective suggests that it is one of the many ways to look at the same thing. One perspective suggests that there are other perspectives. A perspective means it is not the only way to look at it.

While you have a preferred perspective, it is important to take cognizance of other perspectives. In circumstances where all perspectives are valid, you ignore other perspectives to your own peril. In situations where one perspective is more important than others, you should not ignore any perspective, particularly the important one.

Life has major perspectives that are important. We have a social perspective, a physical perspective, a mental perspective, a financial perspective, and a spiritual perspective. All these perspectives are important, but the spiritual perspective is much more important than all others.

As the world moves towards its end as the Bible teaches, people will be divided into two major groups. Those who treat the spiritual perspective as important and those who do not take it seriously and some even reject it. Those who take it seriously will look at things from that perspective. Those who do not take it seriously may totally reject anything religious or be satisfied with any religion or denomination without caring to interrogate if it is consistent with God’s revealed will – the Bible.

The Bible tells us today, that those who do not take seriously the Bible, will look at the world from their perspective and announce that there is peace and safety. From their perspective, they will be seeing around them peace and safety. They will celebrate peace and safety. Then suddenly the peace and safety will vanish like a busted bubble and destruction will face them and they will not escape. They will perish forever because they missed the most important perspective. Missing this perspective means missing everything!

You may be right from every other perspective but if you miss this one perspective, you have missed everything. If you get the right financial perspective of finances and you miss the spiritual, you will ultimately be a loser. If you get health matters right but you miss the spiritual, you ultimately become an irredeemable loser. If you get social and even academic issues perfectly correct, but your spiritual is uncatered for, you eventually lose even if you seem to be currently winning. Missing this perspective means missing everything!

How are you looking at life around you today? How are you looking at your personal life today? Are you looking at it from all perspectives? Are you looking at it from the most important perspective, which is the spiritual perspective? The spiritual perspective is more important than all other perspectives, but life must be viewed from all perspectives with a priority on the spiritual. May God help us not to miss this most important perspective of life, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
