Esther 6:3 – “What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?” the king asked. “Nothing has been done for him,” his attendants answered.
I once preached a sermon by this title that there is a divine precision at work. You can go to YouTube and search for – Rei Kesis There is a divine precision at work. That search will lead you to this life changing sermon. You can also use this link to get to the sermon.
The concept in that sermon and in our reading today are the same but completely different examples. This article today focuses on events around Mordecai and Haman in the book of Esther. The key point is that God acts with precision. God is never too early nor too late!
Haman hated Mordecai because he was a Jew and a better man than him. There are enemies who hate us, not because we offended them but because our goodness and excellence offends them. Haman hated Mordecai and wanted to kill him.
Haman prepared a place where he would get Mordecai to be hanged to death. He developed a false narrative that he would use to convince the king that Mordecai should be hanged. Then he went to visit the king with an aim to get approval to hang Haman.
While Haman was on the way to the king’s palace, God acted in precision and kept the king awake. God acted in precision and the king remembered through records reading that Mordecai had saved his life but had not been rewarded. As Haman walked to the king’s palace to give a false story to get Mordecai killed, God walked the king through historical records that compelled him to think positively about Mordecai and reward him. There is a divine precision at work.
The moment the king was convinced that Mordecai should be rewarded, is the exact time Haman walked in to the outer court of the king’s palace. That is divine precision. The king calls in Haman and asks him to go and reward Mordecai publicly for being a good person. Haman was to go around the city proclaiming that Mordecai was a good person. There is a divine precision at work.
Think about it, that before Haman could poison the king with a false narrative about Mordecai, God stepped in at the right time. The king using his authority asks that Mordecai is rewarded first before he entertains any other business from Haman or anyone else. At the precise time when Haman wanted to destroy Mordecai, is when God lifted Mordecai up and forced Haman to do it. This is a divine precision at work.
If you read beyond our chapter of consideration today, you will find out that Haman died by hanging at the same place and time he wanted Mordecai hanged. These are divine actions. God acts with precision to help and save His people. There is a divine precision at work!
God may seem to delay but He doesn’t delay He acts with precision. What we think is delay is our misunderstanding of what should be the perfect time for something to happen. Some preacher correctly said that divine delay is not denial. When God delays to respond to you, it is not that He has denied you what you asked for. When God seems to delay, He will act with precision at the right time. There is a divine precision at work.
Everything happens for God’s glory and in our favor at the right time. Our situation today is in God’s plans and He will not delay. He will lift us up at the right time as He lifted up Mordecai at the right time. Find peace in your situation. Be calm and wait on God. You may think He has forgotten or He is delaying, but He will act at the precise time. There is a divine precision at work!
When Mordecai rescued the king, he wasn’t appreciated or rewarded, but it was recorded in palace records. How did he feel when nothing was mentioned and done after he rescued the king? Didn’t it seem like a wasted act? Didn’t he feel worthless and abandoned? Mordecai May have felt bad and even forgot about it. Yet God hadn’t forgotten and had kept this act for a future moment when it would precisely serve divine purposes and help Mordecai. When Mordecai seemed ignored and forgotten, there was a divine precision at work.
Are you ignored and forgotten? Does nobody notice you struggles and achievements? Are you doing great things and the world ignores? Keep going there is a God watching and will act at the right time. There is a divine precision at work.
Haman the enemy of Mordecai seemed to be prospering. He was close to the king. Mordecai was a beggar at the king’s gate. When bad people prosper and good people seem to suffer, wait on God, there is a divine precision at work. God will upend the current status quo. Do not despair, complain or doubt. Remain faithful and God will act and save at the right time. Do not worry about prosperity of wicked people and suffering of the righteous. The situation will change. There is a divine precision at work.
Find peace in your situation today. Trust God even when He seems to delay. Be calm as enemies prosper. Find peace in every good thing about you being forgotten. Be worried if you are acting against others because God will soon turn tables against you. May we be warned and comforted to know that there is a divine precision at work. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
