This Paternity Test Will Scandalize Many Children!

1 John 5:4 – for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

1 John 5:5

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

A paternity test is used to prove the relationship between the child and the father. Paternity tests are used to identify bodies that cannot be identified by physical features. Paternity tests can also be used to determine who is the father of the child.

There are maternity tests to prove if a child and a mother are related. However there are fewer occasions when motherhood is disputed. Therefore, since disputes are much more around who the father is, paternity tests are much more common.

Paternity tests can be ordered by a court of law as part of a process to resolve a dispute. Paternity tests can be initiated by a parent who seeks to settle a suspicion . Paternity test can be initiated by a child who seeks closure on a parental issue.

A rich man died in a country in East Africa. He had many wives and children. His youngest wife had a child with him before he fell ill and died. The other wives and their children moved to court to dispute paternity of this child of the youngest wife. Their intention was to deny the child to the youngest wife an inheritance to the rich man’s massive estate. The court ordered a paternity test for all the children in the family. Lo and behold, the only legitimate child to the deceased rich man was the child to the youngest wife. Paternity tests can be scandalous!

There is another paternity test that can also scandalize many children. A paternity test to prove if indeed God is your Father. The Bible in our text today, gives an undisputed paternity test that proves whether God is our Father.

The Bible tells us today that if you are born of God, you overcome the world. Not that you may, but you overcome the world. Not that at some point in future you will, no, you constantly continue to overcome the world. That is the paternity test that proves if you are born of God and if God is your Father. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

If you have faith in God and have been born again, by Spirit and by baptism of immersion in water, you must overcome the world. Baptism and the entire process of being born again comes with empowerment by God through the Holy Spirit, so that you can continuously overcome the world.

If you are not overcoming the world, it means you lack the enabling power of the Holy Spirit. If you lack power of the Holy Spirit, it means you lack the Holy Spirt in your life. If you lack the Holy Spirit in your life, it means whatever you call being born again, including baptism, was just a charade. If your being born of God is just a charade, you are not born of God. If you are not born of God, then God has not become your father. The paternity test of overcoming the world has proved that God is not your Father. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

John 8:44

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Unless you get born again through a process that includes baptism, your father is the devil. Even if you are a nice respectable person without the glaring mistakes of some church people, you are still the son or daughter of the devil. Every human being, because of the sins of Adam and Eve, is born being a child of the devil. Later on we choose to remain children of the devil or be born again so that we become children of God!

Therefore, take the paternity test to establish if you are born of God or you are still a nice innocent harmless child of the devil. Only those born of God can overcome the world and that is the test of paternity. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

Have you overcome pornography? Have you overcome the unforgiving Spirit? Have you overcome the holding of grudges and past issues? Have you overcome sexual immorality? Only legitimate children of God, overcome. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

Have you overcome lateness to church? Have you overcome a sharp abusive tongue? Have you overcome eating unhealthy foods and drinks? Have you overcome breaking the Sabbath? Only legitimate children of God, overcome. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

Now, before you scream that this is righteousness by works or being under the law, take note that those expected to overcome are not sinners seeking salvation, but those already born of God, those already saved by faith alone. This is what is expected of those already born again. Sinners come in by grace and faith alone. Bu the test of true conversion is ability to overcome the world. If you are saved, then you can overcome the world.

We overcome the world, not because we want to be saved, but because we are already saved. Overcoming the world is a test result of whether God is your Father. Only legitimate children of God, overcome. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

Have you overcome cheating in exams, in reports, and being unethical and corrupt? Have you overcome greed and spiritual insensitivity that causes you to fail to return tithes and offerings? Only legitimate children of God, overcome. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

Have you overcome fear and consultation of witches and witch doctors? Have you overcome tribal and racial biases that influence your association and even conduct in worship? Have you overcome gossiping? Have you overcome power struggle schemes and politics even in church, in an attempt to help the Holy Spirit? Only legitimate children of God, overcome. This paternity test will scandalize many children!

This test scandalizes me! I must once again seek to be truly converted so that God becomes my Father and I overcome the world! May we overcome today, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
