Numbers 3:23
The Gershonite clans were to camp on the west, behind the tabernacle.
Numbers 3:29
The Kohathite clans were to camp on the south side of the tabernacle.
Numbers 3:35
The leader of the families of the Merarite clans was Zuriel son of Abihail; they were to camp on the north side of the tabernacle.
Numbers 3:38
Moses and Aaron and his sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, in front of the tent of meeting. They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death.
When the thing that stands out from the beginning of the Bible narrative is that God is very organized. God created the world in a very organized way. He began with what must come first and what came last was supposed to come last came last. Light came first because the light was needed for everything else. Human beings who would enjoy the created work came last. God did His creation in six days, step by step, and rested on the seventh day. God is clearly very organized!
Sin comes into the world and God again reorganizes life on earth. He tells the snake that it will crawl and eat from dust. He tells the man that he will sweat in order to eat. He tells the woman about pain at childbirth. Then He promises that He will crush the enemy who has invaded the tranquility. God did it in a very organized way.
At the time of Noah, God calls Noah with a plan to address the sin problem. An organized person doesn’t come in public without a plan. An organized person responds to the problems with a plan. A plan to build an Ark. A plan of the Ark itself. A plan of which animals will get in. A plan of getting into the Ark. A plan of how long it will rain and when to leave the Ark. God is very organized. Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
God calls Abraham and He has a plan. He tells Abraham that through him the world will be blessed. Abraham is the father of the faith movement. Today Christians trace their roots of faith to Abraham. God’s plan is working. God is very organized. Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
To convince Pharaoh to let Israel go out of Egypt, God sent ten well-planned plagues. Plagues that resonated with Egyptian gods but proved their impotency. Plagues that were general to everybody and progressively became specific to Egyptians. Plagues ended with the most lethal strike against firstborns. By the tenth plague, God’s plan worked. God is very organized. Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
God promises seven last plagues at the end of time. Plagues that are equally very organized and lethal against sinners. Since God is so organized, He has warned us in advance. God is very organized. Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
When they need food, God provides manna bread daily to everybody. On Friday before Sabbath, they collected two portions, since on Saturday the Sabbath God would not give them manna. A very organized way of giving food. God is very organized. Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
When the Israelites were settling down after crossing the Red Sea, God comes with a worship plan. He brings a tabernacle design and tells Moses to build exactly the same thing. God even tells Moses where the funds and material will come from. God is very organized. Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
God is so organized that He even chooses prophets way before they are born, Jeremiah 1:5. Organized people have plan deep into the future. What are your plans for the next five or ten or fifteen years? Where do you want to be? Is what you are doing today taking you there?
Acts 17:26
From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.
God is so organized, He made a plan for each and every human being. God planned for when you will be born and live. God planned even where you will leave. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us God has good plans for us. Everything God does shows very high level of organization. Unless we too are organized in our lives, we don’t belong to this God!
In our text today, God even organizes the Levites on where they will live and what work they will do. God is very specific on where He wants them to live and what work they do. Job descriptions must be clear and specific. Our God is clearly very organized. Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
Are you organized in your personal life? Are your finances organized? Is your social life organized? Is your spiritual life organized? Are you organized in your business, at work, and in school? As the future approaches, are you organized for it? When problems and challenges occur, do you approach them with a plan in an organized manner? What plan do you have for your current problems? Do you wake up every morning with an organized plan for the day? Unless you are organized, you don’t belong to this God!
Dear God, I wish to be as organized as You. Make me organized. Enable me to be organized, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
