We Have Everything We Need

2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God’s own power, when we learned he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness

It is the desire of almost every one of us to have everything. It is not a nice place to be when you are in need. To be in need is to lack that which would have helped you at this moment. Therefore to have everything is a great desire.

No one seems to have everything. Even those who have much more than others are still in pursuit of even much more. Greed has made us slaves of goals that will never be achieved. A greedy person will not rest even if they had everything, because they would think that there is more somewhere.

The Bible today tells us about not just everything, but everything that we need. You may have everything but it is not what you need. If you have everything of what you do not need, you are as good as those who lack what they need. Everything is only important if it is comprised of what we need. We have everything we need!

Apostle Peter tells the Church that as believers, we have everything that we need. Anything we need in order to live a life that pleases God has been provided for. We have everything that we need!

When you successfully live a life that pleases God, it is not because of your self-discipline or personal abilities, but it is because God provided everything that you needed. We have everything that we need!

What temptation is facing you today? Are you tempted to sin? The good news is that you have everything you need to resist that temptation. Reach out to what God has provided for you and in God’s name be a conqueror. We have everything we need!

Is it persecution that is threatening your relationship with God? Do not worry, what you need to endure that persecution is already provided for by God. Just ask God to show you and help you to use what He has provided. We have everything we need!

Land that has oil or gold beneath may not look like it on the surface until it is explored deep down. What we have within us to live a godly life, may not seem obviously present until when we by faith reach down to what God has provided, and in the time of crisis, we get surprised by our own performance. We get surprised because when what is within us kicked in, we instantly became victorious by God’s grace. We always had it within us. God put it in us. We have everything we need!

What we need is not a reference to the personal deep-seated abilities that we garner or summon to attempt a huge task. Personal deep-seated abilities are available to everyone. What the Bible is referring to today is what God gives to believers only to enable them to live a godly life. It is what we need for the moment. We have everything we need!

God has fully equipped us for any and every eventuality that may come our way. God has provided people, circumstances, situations, and resources we need to live a godly life. We have everything we need!

Was someone tempting you to sin and you were cornered, then they fell sick or an emergency distracted them? That is what you needed to live a godly life. Did you just run out of money to facilitate a sinning escapade? That is what you needed to live a godly life. Did you just get the money you needed before you started begging and being at the mercy of people? That is what you needed. God has provided everything we need to live a godly life. We have everything we need!

Did the sermon come at exactly the right time for you? That is everything you needed. When you look back in life, you discover that at the right time, everything you needed just emerged from seemingly nowhere but by God’s grace. Everything we have is available but only shows up at the right time. We have everything we need!

Thank you, God, thank you for providing everything we need for every situation and particularly to live a godly life. When people praise us for resisting temptation, or enduring trouble, or excelling in what we do, may we be reminded to honor You, because You gave us everything we needed. May I forever be grateful for the divine provision of everything I need, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
