Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
We all have projects that we want to see successfully done. It could be postgraduate research. It could be building construction. It could be setting up a business. It could be starting a relationship or a family. It could be planning a wedding. It could be reducing the backlog of emails, texts, and unreturned calls. It could be lots of homework that you were given in school. It could be something you have been putting off for some time and now it bothers you. It could be a book you want to write. Whatever it is, it is your project. We are about to learn from the best how to execute any project!
Our best as believers is God Himself. God executed a huge project of creating the world, and all details of how He did it are availed to us. From the Genesis chapter one Creation story we learn many things, and today we learn how to execute any project. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
The first is that God began immediately. When the time to create came, God created. There was no delay, no procrastination. The Bible begins by telling us that God created. If we must do something successfully, we should do it immediately before thoughts of procrastination sneak in. Do it immediately before you discourage yourself or lie to yourself that doing it another time would be better, and you know it won’t happen. Do it immediately is the first step. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
I have learned that if you want to do anything just do it. Do it with errors. Do it the wrong way. Do it with mistakes. Do it without all information being available. Do it without having all resources. This is because many times the delay awaiting perfection stands in the way of us ever achieving anything. A few times it is true we need to wait to have all things in place, but most times it’s laziness masquerading as being strategic. What can be done should be done immediately. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
The second one is that God broke down the work into small parts that logically make sense. God could have created the world by one word from His mouth. But in order to teach us, God created the world bit by bit. God created from simple to complex. If we must achieve anything we must break down the work into pieces and tackle one piece at a time. That way it will not seem overwhelming. Break down any assignment and then do one piece at a time and soon it will be done. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
The third is that God took breaks in between accomplishments. Breaks energize. After a break, we regain the attention and focus that is required. Take time and sleep sufficiently so that your mind will be fully alert when you come back to the assignment. Take a bathroom break. Rise from your seat and stretch around. It is risky to sit for too long, it can cause sudden death. God took breaks yet He was not tired. Take a break too, you are not better than God. Go on leave, take an off day, go out briefly to catch a breath. You will be much more productive. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
The fourth is self-evaluation. God evaluates Himself daily during creation. Learn to evaluate your achievements. God is positive to Himself. He tells Himself that the job is well done. See positive things. You gain more by being positive than being realistic negative. Be positive about yourself and your work. If you can’t encourage yourself, you will not go very far in any project you set out to do. Encourage yourself like God and keep going. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
The fifth is that God celebrates His accomplishments on the sabbath. Sabbath celebrates creation. God celebrates that He has finished His work. Sabbath-keeping is about remembering God as a Creator. We need to celebrate all our accomplishments. Celebrate them as frequently as possible. Heaven celebrates throughout. When Jesus was born, angels celebrated. When one sinner out of billions repents, heaven doesn’t wait for them to be a reasonable number, no, heaven celebrates immediately. If heaven celebrates continuously, we too must celebrate all our accomplishments continuously. The celebration boosts your energy for another project. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
After a small task, celebrate by a walk, listening to a song, etc. After huge assignments, celebrate with a break. Learn to celebrate. Learning from the best how to execute any project!
Dear God, I have many projects pending around me. I need some actions and results. Grant me wisdom to learn from You and be successful, this is my request as I believe you will grant me success in all I do, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
