Acts 5:19
But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out.
The night is a time when threats are high. The night is when the enemy prowls around. The night is when our fears peak. But during the night an angel came!
The night is symbolic of hopelessness. The night is symbolic of the worst times in life. The night is symbolic of the undesirable. But during the night an angel came!
Psalms 30:5
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
WEEPING MAY STAY FOR THE NIGHT,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
The night is a time of weeping. The night is a time of pain. The night is when time drags and it seems like better times will never come. No one likes or wants to be in the night situation. But during the night an angel came!
Apostles were arrested because of preaching the gospel. Apostles were persecuted because of their faith. Apostles were harassed. Apostles were thrown in prison. What was ahead of them was torture, further persecution, and even death. As they sat in prison, night came and they didn’t know what morning will bring. That night of uncertainty is the night that God stepped in.
The Bible says that God stepped in when they had been securely locked in prison. When leaders of the Jewish people were sure that the Apostles were in prison, they went home excited that they had won against God’s people. When Roman guards locked up the prison they were satisfied that they had done an excellent job that would please their bosses and Jewish leaders. That same night God had plans for His people. An Angel saved the Apostles from prison without breaking any door or window. During the night an angel came and saved them.
When things are bad we have an evening experience. Sunset days are when we are coming to the end of something. When things are at their worst point, night has fallen. At night it can’t get worse than it already is. But it is on the night of our lives that God steps in.
There was a threat to take the three Hebrew boys in the fire. They were summoned before the king and that was the evening of their lives. Then they were thrown into the fiery furnace and that was the night of their lives. On that night when they were landing in the fiery furnace, God stepped in.
Whatever we are going through as it moves from bad to worse, may God step in when He pleases, even on the night of our experiences, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
