Esther 7:9 – Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs attending the king, said, “A pole reaching to a height of fifty cubits stands by Haman’s house. He had it set up for Mordecai, who spoke up to help the king.”
The king said, “Impale him on it!”
Esther 7:10 – So they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai. Then the king’s fury subsided.
Scheming is making secret plans to do something wrong. Schemers wants to look good on the outside yet they have wrong secret plans. Scheming to steal while looking honest and trustworthy. Scheming to hurt someone while looking friendly.
Boomerang is derived from an object that is thrown but because of its curved design, it tends to come back to the one who threw. To boomerang is when something I throw away from me comes back to me. I throw it to hit someone else but it comes back and hits me who threw it.
Boomerang suggests that harm you wished for someone else comes back to harm you and not the other person. Scheming has a boomerang effect means you plan to hurt someone else but at the end you become a victim of your own plans. Instead of the other person getting hurt as you planned secretly, you get hurt. That is what it means to say scheming has a boomerang effect!
Our Bible text is a conclusion of an intriguing story. Haman worked very close to the king and could influence decisions. Haman hated Mordecai and all Jews. Haman secretly planned to get Mordecai hanged to death.
In his scheme against Mordecai, Haman even built a hanging facility at his own home. The hanging facility is also known as gallows or a hanging pole. He now had a scheme to convince the king to make a quick wrong decision to kill Mordecai by hanging.
The story goes on to tell us that as Haman was scheming, the king by what can only be divine intervention, remembered that Mordecai had saved his life. Mordecai had saved the king’s life!
When Haman walked to the king’s palace to lie to the king about Mordecai, the king was at that very moment thinking positive thoughts about Mordecai. The king ordered Haman to March around the city escorting Mordecai and shouting praises that Mordecai is the king’s favorite person. Haman did it and it hurt him so much. He went ahead after that and built a pole where he would get Mordecai hanged.
In Haman’s second scheme to kill Mordecai and all Jews, Esther intervened and pleaded with the king to save them from Haman. When the king learnt that Haman had schemed to kill Jews who included his wife Queen Esther, he go so furious. While in that rage, the king was informed that Haman had built a pole for hanging Mordecai. The king ordered that Haman is hanged immediately on the pole he had prepared to hang Mordecai. Haman was immediately hanged to death. Haman’s schemes against Mordecai boomeranged on him. Scheming has a boomerang effect!

Any plans to bring down someone else, will bring the planner or his/her children down. This is because God supervises the world and determines what finally happens.
