Everyone Born Of God Overcomes The World

1 John 5:4-5
for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

This text gives the all-time unfailing winning formula. This text is the secret of success. The method given here is not shrouded in mystery and false motivation. This is the stuff that delivers victory and success in anything and everything. If you can listen to amorphous motivational speakers with their encouragement speeches that are highly motivating but cannot be implemented, you should listen to this too for this is better and different. If you can read books on how to be a millionaire by people who are not millionaires, have the courage to read this that works. If you can buy books on how to pass exams from people who never passed their own exams, then you can take a risk and for once read something real and practicable.

Apostle John in his first of three letters to the church closes it by making a statement that carries finality with no iota of doubt. John tells us that everyone born of God overcomes the world. Not that they may overcome the world. Not that they will probably overcome the world. Not that they have high chances of overcoming the world. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Everyone born of God overcomes the world. Everyone is the main word. Not most of them. Not some of them. Not a majority of them. It is everyone. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Born of God? Yes, born of God. Born of God means several things. Born of God through faith that believes in Jesus. Born of God means you are a baptized true member of the church. Born of God means you are not a hypocrite pretending to love God but living a double life. Born of God means, you belong to God and God who reads our secret motives knows that you are genuinely His. To be born of God is to be a true convert. To be born of God means to have shifted allegiance to God and God alone. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Job was genuinely converted and he overcame under the most difficult circumstances. Noah overcame even when he was the only one who looked different and laughing stock. Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego in Babylon overcame even in a foreign land where they had no relatives and Godfathers to champion their course. Disciples just twelve of them started spreading the gospel that is now global. When you are truly converted, you will always win in your endeavors. You may seem to have failed or headed for failure, but ultimately, you win. You must win, for this is God’s promise. You must win in this life and even in the life to come. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Born of God also means that you are operating according to the will of God. Your actions and decisions are born of God, they are the will of God. A person can give birth to an idea and that idea becomes his/her will. Bill Gates gave birth to the idea of Microsoft windows. Steve Jobs gave birth to the idea of Macintosh Apple products. God also gives birth to ideas. God gave birth to the idea of building the Ark. God gave birth to the idea of Abraham living his home to start a new nation. God gave birth to the idea of Israelites leaving Egypt when it was most impossible. If your life is according to an idea born of God, you are bound to succeed. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Is your relationship born of God? Is your job born of God? Is your business born of God? Is your education born of God? Is your health practices born of God? Is your religious commitment born of God? We just need to ensure that the activities and focus of our lives are consistent with the will of God. If it is the will of God, then it is born of God. Everyone and everything born of God overcomes the world!

How do I know the will of God? The will of God is anything that does not contradict scriptures, the Bible teachings. That is why we daily read the Bible so that we are conversant with the will of God. We also pray daily and all the time, so that God reveals His will to us. We also consult religious leaders, so that they shed light on what scripture says, and then we decide for ourselves. Therefore your entire life must be consistent with the will of God, revealed in scripture and clarified through prayer and counseling where necessary. You cannot live a life that contradicts biblical teachings and expects to be an overcomer. A life that contradicts any Bible teaching is not born of God. Only those born of God can win all the time. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Overcomes the world. The world refers to satanic forces that seek to continuously destroy us. Satan is our constant continuous adversary. Satan is the prince of this world, John 14:30. Satan seeks to constantly destroy us, 1 Peter 5:8 and Revelation 12:10. To overcome satan, we and our lifestyle decisions and actions must be born of God. Everyone that is born of God overcomes the world!

Overcomes the world. The world refers to things influenced and caused by satan. Sickness, bad economy, war, bad weather, crime, difficult exams, toxic environment, etc. Whatever satan causes to happen is what the world is about. These things challenge us and tempt our faith in God as it did to Job. God enables those born of Him to overcome these things. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Overcomes the world. The world is people who are driven by satan. People who torment us. People who do not wish us well in the secret depths of their hearts. People who smile and greet us but are planning and wishing for our downfall. People who will backstab us without blinking and the only reason they have not done so, is they lack opportunity. People who will any day anytime side with anyone and anything opposed to us. People in our inner circle and people far from us. All these people inspired and driven by satan are the world. Only God can help us overcome their continuous attempts to defeat us. God helps those whose lives, decisions and everything is according to His will and they are converted, and consequently they are born of God. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

Overcomes the world. The world refers to everything and anything opposed to God. Sinful things, Secular things. Tempting things. Things that cause us to backslide from faith. To become victorious spiritually is not a personal effort, we must be born of God, for us to be spiritually strong and successful. Everyone born of God overcomes the world!

It is from this Bible text that the Song, faith is the victory, was written. Our faith in God is what makes us, our lifestyle and our choices to be born of God. If we are born of God, we are of faith, we shall always be victorious even if at the moment we seem defeated or headed for defeat. Faith is the victory!

I pray dear God that I may be born of you through genuine conversion. May my daily lifestyle and choices be consistent with your will my God. I pray that I am listed among those who are born of God. May I overcome in everything and every way today and forevermore, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
