Philippians 1:6
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
The church of the Philippians was experiencing challenges and deadly opposition. Apostle Paul the founder was in prison because of the gospel. The future seemed dark and bleak. The question in everyone’s mind was, Will the church make it? Will the church survive? Is there hope for the church or is this the end?
From this background that has concern for the future, Paul writes to the Philippians. At the very beginning of his letter, Paul assures them that this gospel work will end well. God will ensure that it ends well.
It may seem hopeless now, but it will end well. It may have its enemies winning and itself losing, but it will end well. Every probability may indicate that the church is doomed to collapse, but it will end well. Some experiences currently are bitter and undesirable, but it will end well. God will ensure that it ends well.
God who started the church is faithful. God will supervise the church to ensure it navigates all dangerous and safe waters until it ends well. God has committed Himself to the safe completion of this project. God will ensure that it ends well.
This is a promise that God has made to all of us who work with Him. Matthew 28:20, I will be with you to the very end. If He started it, what happens in between does not matter, it will end well. It is like a movie where the actor suffers a lot in between, yet in the end, the main actor must still win. This main actor in this movie will end as a winner. God will ensure that it ends well.
The critical question is, who started the journey? If it is God, it will and must end well. Who started the journey of your employment? Who started the journey of your business? Who started the journey of your relationship or marriage? Who started the journey of your life? Who started your spiritual journey? If it is not God, you can repent and still ask Him to go with you all the way. If it is God, it will end well despite all that is happening now. He who started the good work in you will bring it to completion. God will ensure that it ends well.
All I have to do as I travel the journeys of this life is to ensure that I am with and for God. That is why I pray daily. That is why I study the Bible daily. To ensure I know the will of God and stick by God. God does not fail, He will ensure that it ends well.
Dear God, be part of my life. Forgive my sins. Be part of my life. If I must ever start anything even a year, a month, a week, or a day, I pray that I start it with You. If I must confront certain realities, I pray that I am with You. As I face difficulties, remind me that You have never failed and whatever You start, you will end it well. Give me perseverance as I wit for victory from You, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
