I Have Given You Victory Therefore Go and Get It!

Joshua 6:2 – Then the LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.

Joshua 6:3 – March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.

The normal human formula is that you fight first then get victory later. When fighting you are not sure of victory but you hope for victory. However, God’s formula is different. God gives victory first, then He asks Joshua and the army to go for it. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

Joshua took over leadership of Israel from Moses. Among his first assignments was to fight against Jericho city. Jericho was a well protected city with a powerful army. Joshua had to strategize on how to fight and win.

God appears to Joshua while he is strategizing how to fight against Jericho. In our text today, God tells Joshua that He has already given him victory over Jericho. God tells Joshua you won’t lose this battle. Victory is guaranteed. Before the fight God guarantees victory!

After giving guarantee of victory, God tells Joshua how to get that victory. To get the guaranteed victory, march daily around Jericho for six days. Why are we marching? To get the granted guaranteed victory. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

After six days of marching, God asks them to March seven times around Jericho on the seventh day and then shout and blow trumpets. Why are they doing all these? To get the already granted guaranteed victory. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

After shouting on the seventh round on the seventh day Jericho walls will collapse. Israelites are to rush in and fight and destroy everyone and everything except Rahab and family. Why are they fighting? For the already granted and guaranteed victory. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

Joshua and the Israelites did that and they won against Jericho. When did they win? They got victory before the war. Victory was granted and guaranteed before the war.

Did granted and guaranteed victory mean they don’t fight? No! They had to be present and fight for what was already guaranteed. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

God doesn’t send us to a battle we haven’t won. God doesn’t send us to do exams we won’t pass. Victory comes first then the struggle follows. The difficulty of the struggle will not affect the outcome which is victory. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

Just make sure God has sent you where you are going. Do not go without God’s approval. God’s approval is victory before the fight, then the fight follows leading to victory. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

When a Christian is struggling, it is not in desperation to win. It is a process towards an already granted and guaranteed victory. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

Am I struggling at my work place? Are things difficult in my studies. Are huge challenges facing me health wise? Is my relationship getting worse than better? Are my finances getting worse off? Am I losing grip on life? All these are a process towards an already granted and guaranteed victory. All these are the marches around Jericho. The struggle may be difficult but victory is sure. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

I therefore struggle calmly and full of faith. I know that God has guaranteed and granted victory. Therefore I struggle as a winner. I have given you victory therefore go and get it!

Dear God grant me a guaranteed victory before I start anything. Forgive me for what I started without you. Remind me to struggle like a winner. When the struggle is tough, remind me that it’s a process towards a granted guaranteed victory. May we struggle as winners, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
