I Know Where You Live

Revelation 2:13
I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives.

John the Revelator writes this letter on behalf of Jesus Christ. It is a letter from Jesus to the Churches. It is a letter that at some point highlights the strengths of a church and where they need to make improvements. The content of the letter shows us how much God knows about us and His church. I know where you live!

The first letter was sent to the church in Ephesus. The second letter was sent to the church at Smyrna. The third letter that we are considering today was sent to the church in Pergamum. Every message from Christ is specific to each church depending on their varied circumstances.

Pergamum was the city that hosted the worship center for three different deities. Emperor worship, Zeus worship, and worship of goddess Athena. This could be the reason why Christ calls it the throne of satan. Believers like Antipas were killed for refusing to worship at these altars of Roman and Greek gods.

Christ in His letter to the church tells them that I know where you live. I know you live where Satan has his throne. I know that though you live where Satan has his throne, you have remained faithful. I know where you live!

God knows where we live. God is so concerned about us, He even cares to know where we live. He knows our neighbors. He knows the prevailing circumstances. He knows the risks and temptations we face. He knows where we live.

God knows where we live. God knows those we stay with. God knows our neighbors. God knows the type of neighbors we have. God knows how much pressure our neighborhood is giving us. God knows under what circumstances we are faithful. To comfort and show care He sends this message. I know where you live!

To those living in poverty and great unmet needs at home, Christ says, I know where you live. To those suffering from domestic violence, Christ says, I know where you live. To those whose environments are toxic and causing stress, Christ says I know where you live!

I know where you live is the same as saying I am up-to-date with your circumstances. I know what is going on. I know the situation at your workplace. I know the situation at school. I know the situation at your place of business. I know the situation of your joblessness. I know your loneliness. I know your unanswered prayers. I know where you live.

God knows how much we have to contend with. God knows what Satan and others are doing to us. God knows our struggle to remain faithful. Let us be encouraged that God knows and He is doing something about our situation. I know where you live!

May we be comforted today that God knows where we live, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
