Milestones Without God Offends God

Hosea 8:4 (NIV) – They set up kings without my consent; they choose princes without my approval. With their silver and gold they make idols for themselves to their own destruction.

Milestones are events or places in a journey that mark progress towards a greater goal. Milestones show the progress being made. Milestones are small achievements towards a greater achievement.

Children have milestones to show growth. Academic progress has milestones. Relationships have milestones. Nations have milestones that mark dispensations and progress.

When a country gains independence, that is a milestone. When a country promulgates a new constitution, that is a milestone. When a country changes its key leaders, that is a milestone.

God accuses Israel of changing kings without consulting Him. Israel changes Princess without finding out what God wants or wishes. Israel is making progress through milestones without God. Milestones without God offends God.

This is one of the many accusations God has against Israel. Going through major milestones without God. Milestones that could lead to doom or prosperity. Why do they ignore God? Milestones without God offends God.

When Israel wanted freedom from Egypt or any occupying forces, they consulted God. Those were major milestones. When Israel got tired of Theocracy during Samuel’s time, and they wanted a king, they consulted God. When power changed from Saul’s house to David’s house, God was involved. Every milestone God was involved!

When the Ark of the covenant moved to Jerusalem, a major symbolic milestone that made Jerusalem the Headquarters, God was involved. When the kingdom wanted a milestone infrastructure of a temple, God was involved. When the constitution changed and now we had two kingdoms out of one, God was involved. Every milestone the nation crossed, God was involved.

Israel changed kings and even replaced them at death, by God’s approval. God was always involved. Why are they now making milestones without God. No prayers, no inquiries, they just move on as if they have no God or His opinion doesn’t matter. Milestones without God offends God.

We too have milestones. Is God involved in our milestones? From staying at home to going to school again, a milestone. From single to dating, a milestone. From childless to pregnant, a milestone. Is God involved in your milestones? Milestones without God offends God.

From jobless to employed, a milestone. From one rank at work to another, a milestone. Changing jobs, another milestone. Is God involved in your milestones? Milestones without God offends God.

From staying with parents and guardians to my first own house, however small. From my own small house to a bigger better comfortable own house. From public transportation commuting to own motorcycle or vehicle. These are all milestones. Is God involved in your milestones? Milestones without God offends God.

From one child to two or more. From single child birth to twins or triplets. From married to divorced or widowed. From lonely to seeing someone. From having parents to being orphans partially or fully. From student to graduate who has completed a training. All these are milestones that God wants us to involve Him in. Milestones without God offends God.

Traveling abroad is a milestone. Starting a business is a milestone. Birthdays are milestones. Anniversary is a milestone. God wants to be involved in every milestone in our lives. Milestones without God offends God.

Publishing a book is a milestone. Your first article getting published is a milestone. Your first presentation is a milestone. God wants you to involve Him in all your milestones. Milestones without God offends God!

While individuals have milestones, organizations too have milestones. The local church has milestones. From owning nothing to buying property, developing it, etc. Business has milestones of growth and expansion. God wants to be involved in every milestone. Milestones without God offends God.

In the Biblical text today, God is offended that Israel has had milestones and they don’t involve Him. Why do they ignore God during their milestones? They will be punished severely for not involving God in their milestones. Milestones without God offends God.

Dear God we have made progress through many milestones because of You. We have survived painful terrible milestones by your grace. May we never forget You in any milestones, may we always involve You in every milestone. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
