Problems That Trigger Blessings

Matthew 5:11-12
(11)“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. (12) Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

(11) God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. (12) Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.

(11) “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. (12) Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

Problems are considered negative. Problems are what we try to avoid. Problems kill the fun. Problems may come unannounced. Problems ruin what is good. Problems are costly. Problems hurt us. Generally speaking, problems are not good!

Some Christians believe that a true believer will be free from problems. Nothing could be further from the truth. Christians even the most devout of them all cannot avoid problems. Job was a righteous man according to God, Job 1:1, and Job 1:8, yet Job faced the worst problems ever. Job in his perfection before God lost all wealth. Job in his righteous living before God lost all children. Job in his holy life before God lost his health. Job a righteous man, according to God, lived a life full of trouble!

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus never promised a trouble-free life. The preaching of a trouble-free life in this world of sin is heresy. In this world, Jesus said we will have trouble. Not because we are bad, but because the world is corrupted by sin. Therefore, problems are part and parcel of life!

There are problems that people cause. Enemies will bring problems to us in order to trouble us. Haters will cause us problems. People who are envious will bring problems to us. The Bible tells us that when people bring trouble to us, we must know why they are doing so. If problems are brought to us because we are lazy, evil-hearted, and mischievous, we need to change our ways and be good people. If the problems are coming to us, because of our love and obedience to God, we are blessed and better off than anyone!

When we are not guilty of wrongdoing, yet someone hatches a plan to hurt us, we may get hurt, but that hurt will result in a good thing for the glory of God. If we are on God’s side, all problems that come to us will trigger blessings.

There is a blessing associated with suffering while being faithful to God. Any problem that comes to us because we belong to God, will become a blessing. If you have problems because you keep the commandments of God, you will soon experience a great blessing. If you have problems because you speak the truth and avoid corruption, you will be blessed by God. If you have problems because you can’t be compromised to engage in evil, you will be blessed. These are problems that trigger blessings!

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
(9) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. ” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (10) That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

When God’s grace covers your life, no problem will ever be a problem. All problems will trigger God’s power and blessings in your life. May our troubles today trigger blessings and God’s power in us, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
