One Biblical Word For A Short-tempered Person

Ecclesiastes 7:9- Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.

A short tempered person is one who is easily provoked. A short tempered person is one who cannot control their reaction to any level of offense. A short tempered person is one who responds to offense in anger and rage without considering the damage.

A short tempered person will harm others or themselves over negligible matters that otherwise should have been ignored. A short tempered person will always regret their reaction to offense and wish they delayed responding. A short tempered person will resort to blame game over their unwarranted reaction to offense.

Some short tempered people are proud of it and want to be feared. They consider short temper to be a weapon. They threaten everyone by declaring that they are short tempered. They want the world to avoid offending them because they can react with unspecified uncontrolled anger.

Short temper is a problem. Short temper is a problem because it suggests lack of control. Lack of self control. There is no virtue in lacking self control.

Short temper is a problem because the person engages in irrational behavior that has higher chances of regret. When you engage in regrettable actions, you are not wise. Actions must be well thought out and not done on impulse as short tempered persons do it.

Short temper is a problem if one is proud of it. That means the person is incapable of knowing between right and wrong. It means one is so self centered that they are blind to their own defects.

Galatians 5:19-21 – The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, FITS OF RAGE, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM of God.

Short temper is a problem because the Bible Galatians 5:19-21 tells us that it is an act of flesh. It is a result of lacking the Holy Spirit. It is a result of being guided by Satan. It is a behavior of persons who will miss eternal life.

In our text in the book of Proverbs today, we are told that we should avoid short temper. Do not be quick to get provoked. Slow your reaction to provocation. To act quickly is to be a fool.

You will get provoked many times, but don’t rush to respond. Slow your reaction. Delay your reaction. Walk away. Keep quiet. Write it down. Consult others. Before you react slow it down!

The Bible tells us that one word for short temper is a fool. If you respond instantly to provocation, only one word describes you – a fool. Wisdom will delay reaction. Foolishness will be quickly provoked. One word for a short tempered person is a fool.

May God help us to delay reaction when provoked. May the Holy Spirit reside in us and remove short temper. May wisdom be our portion, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
