1 Kings 8:59 – And may these words of mine, which I have prayed before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel according to each day’s need,
What a prayer! This prayer of King Solomon is worth everyone’s study. In this prayer truths are revealed about our relationship with God and how much God does and can do for us.
The verse of consideration today suggests that when we pray, God doesn’t forget our prayers. Solomon prays that his prayer will remain near God day and night. That when God remembers this prayer He will uphold the cause of His people. Remember this one prayer!
Is Solomon suggesting that God doesn’t forget prayers and He will keep answering? He is telling God that please don’t forget this prayer. Dear God, keep answering this prayer in future. Remember this one prayer!
We will pray many other prayers but don’t forget this one. Using this one prayer keep blessing and favoring us. Using this one prayer, fix everything in future.
In John chapter seventeen, Jesus also prayed the one prayer. That one prayer that God should keep answering. After the prayer in John seventeen, Jesus still went ahead to pray in Gethsemane and at the cross. The one prayer doesn’t affect or stop other prayers. The one prayer doesn’t replace the need for other prayers. Yet that one prayer is critical.
When we dedicate children we pray the one prayer that covers their future. After that we will pray for them and with them many other prayers. But the dedication prayer is the one prayer. Solomon tells God that please don’t forget the one prayer. Use it to continue blessing your people in the far future. We also can pray that dear God, don’t forget the child dedication prayer. Use it to always bless my child in future!
The one prayer at baptism. The one prayer during ordination. The one prayer during your marriage or wedding day. The one prayer at the funeral. The one prayer when children left home for school or boarding school. The one prayer during ground breaking. The one prayer during house dedication. The one prayer after reconciliation. The one prayer when we started a project or business. The one prayer during exam season as we prayed for their success.
Solomon tells God that the prayer of temple dedication is the one prayer He shouldn’t forget day and night. He tells God to use that one prayer in the entire future to bless the people. Dear God we will pray many prayers but don’t forget that one prayer!
The one prayer is normally well thought out. The one prayer is made during occasions and ceremonies where we are focused and concerned about the present and future. That one prayer covers our core needs for the present and the future. Solomon highlights the one prayer and pleads with God not to forget it.
Dear God, don’t forget the one prayer my parents prayed for me when I was born, and when I left home. Don’t forget the one prayer that was made when I was ordained as a pastor. Don’t forget the one prayer that was made during my wedding. I have prayed and will keep praying but don’t forget the one prayer!
Dear God don’t forget the one prayer I made for my car when it was new. As I drive around remember that one prayer. Don’t forget the one prayer we made for our house, as we live inside, remember that one prayer. We have prayed and keep praying many prayers but don’t forget the one prayer!
Dear God there is one prayer I prayed for my children when they were born. Don’t forget that one prayer. Every time I start a new assignment and project, I make that one prayer. Don’t forget that one prayer.
Let us make it a habit to have the special prayers during events and ceremonies. The pastoral prayer. The main prayer for someone or something. May God always remember that that one prayer way into the future even after we have forgotten it. Remember that one prayer!
There are many one prayers that are made at critical times. Dear God as we pray many other prayers, remember the one prayer. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
