Exodus 3:19-20
(19) But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him. (20) So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.
God gives Moses instructions on what he should do in order to liberate Israelites from bondage. God tells Moses that He will go with him. Moses will not be alone during this assignment. God even tells Moses how he should introduce His name to Israelites if they ask which God send him, Exodus 3:14.
For purposes of future continuous identification of God, He prefers to be known as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Exodus 3: 15-16. God wants to be eternally known by how He related with people. God is not keen on a big name, or power, or might, He is keen on how He is seen as He relates to people.
Are you keen as you relate with people? Would you love to be identified with God? If God is associated with you, would it tarnish His name? Would people be embarrassed to be associated with you? God says I want to be forever associated with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I want to be known as their God. Would people be proud to be forever associated with you? What about God? The good news is that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were not perfect, they had weaknesses like us, and that gives us hope!
God further tells Moses that, when he goes to speak to Israelites about God’s plan to save them, they will listen and believe, Exodus 3: 18. However, in our text today, God tells Moses that when they speak to Pharaoh, he will not listen nor believe. God knows how everyone will respond to His message. Some agree and some reject it.
In our text today, God tells Moses that, Pharaoh will require pressure for him to comply. Pharaoh will have to be forced. Pharaoh will require a greater force than Moses has. Pharaoh will not let Israelites go unless he is forced.
The force needed to convince or force Pharaoh is beyond Moses. God tells Moses that you don’t have what it takes to push Pharaoh. Then God tells Moses, in our text today, that He will provide that required force and pressure that Pharaoh will have to obey. God tells Moses I know your abilities and what you lack I will provide. Pharaoh has to be forced, I will help you to force him.
In life, there is what we can do and what we can’t do. God knows how far our abilities can go. If we belong to God, He will help us do what we can’t do. God knows what we can do. God knows when we need His help. Always go through life with God. God will provide power when you reach your limits.
God knows how much you will remember in an exam and at what point He must intervene or you fail. God knows how many financial challenges you can handle, and He also knows that at some point you need His power, because your power is inadequate. God knows you have the ability to handle relationship issues, but He also knows that at some point unless He steps in to help you, you won’t make it. God knows how much you can do as a parent, and He knows that unless He helps you at some point you will not make it.
At some point in the business of life, you will need extra power. You may be managing things well at work or in the business, but at some point, your ability will run out, you will need extra power if you are faithful to God, He will provide the extra power. God knows the marketplace is tough and only He can make it work. God knows your bosses are wicked and your patience and methods with them will run out, only He can provide the pressure they will yield to.
Dear God, be my God, my abilities are highly limited, please provide the extra power I need to achieve things in life, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
