Luke 1:36
Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.
Luke 1:37
For no word from God will ever fail.”
Something is always said about someone. It is immature to get surprised that people are talking about you. Everyone has someone who could be talking about them. Leaders must and will be talked about. If you are concerned about what people say about you and particularly the negative, you are not fit to be a leader. If you are worried about who talks to who about you, you lack material that makes leaders. In leadership, you will be talked about and even negatively.
Ecclesiastes 7:21
Do not pay attention to every word people say,
or you may hear your servant cursing you—
Grow up as a leader and serve people. Save yourself the stress of listening to reporting idlers and worrying about what people are saying and who talks to who. The Bible commands us – do not pay attention to every word people say…- how clear should that be? Leaders are lifted up and exposed to everyone, therefore they always get talked about negatively and positively. Get used!
A leader who listens to every word which people say will never achieve anything except high octane witch-hunting. Listening to every word is a symptom of failure.
The angel announces the birth of Jesus and makes a reference to the parents of John the Baptist. The angel tells Mary that Elizabeth is expectant. Elizabeth was negatively talked about. Elizabeth had been called names because she couldn’t give birth to any child. Elizabeth who was said to be unable to conceive has now conceived.
Zechariah and Elizabeth because of their inability to have children, were victims of negative talk and ridicule. Anyone who could say anything said it. As they grew old and it became clear that even a miracle of childbirth is impossible, God came through.
People will always talk about us particularly negatively. Some will say it behind our backs. Others in order to attract attention will tell us to our faces. Others will predict our future negatively. Others will blame us. A lot will be said about us. What was said about you will change!
Those who say things believe they are smarter and better. Those who say things believe they can control how events end up turning out. Those who say things earn the respect to terrorize others when their words come true. God tells Mary that He has ended the negative talk cartel that frustrated Elizabeth. They will never talk again because of How God will act. What was said about you will change!
God confirms by this statement that He does listen to what is said and predicted about us. God knows that someone said we are now finished. God knows someone said that unless they receive an apology from you, that marks your end. God knows someone is bragging that unless it depends on them you are hopeless and will never rise again. Then God says that what was predicted negative about you will fail and you will be victorious. What was said about you will change!
Has anything negative been said about you and you feel helpless? Be comforted, God heard it. Have you said anything negative about someone and you made them feel vulnerable and you are invincible? Be very worried, God heard it. God will turn tables and those who pride in evil will cry into eternity. What was said about you will change!
The text tells us that those who depend on God can never be written off even if they seem off. God can raise dry bones back to life. God can raise the dead. Therefore reversing situations in life will not be too difficult for our God. Nothing is impossible with God. God will prove that your haters and negative energy crew are wrong. What was said about you will change!
Dear God, many things said about me are negative and hurting. Predictions have been made that this time I am done. There are people speaking with authority that only they can reverse my fate. I will not bow to them nor serve them, come through and save. Prove it God that you can reverse situations. What was said about me will change! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
