A Cheaper Deal From A Fellow Believer Is Wrong

1 Timothy 6:2 – Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are FELLOW BELIEVERS. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as FELLOW BELIEVERS and are devoted to the welfare of their slaves. These are the things you are to teach and insist on.

1 Timothy 6:2 – If the masters are believers, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. Those slaves should work all the harder because their efforts are helping other believers who are well loved. Teach these things, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. (New Living Translation)

A fellow believer should treat you well. You should treat your fellow believer well. However that is not a license for you to take advantage and run your fellow believer into losses.

A slave master demands quality prompt service from the slaves. If the slave fails the slave is beaten and can even lose life. Therefore the slave serves in fear of losing life and punishment. Consequently the slave master gets an excellent service.

Should the slave master suffer losses because the slave is a fellow believer? Should the slave offer the poorest lazy service because he or she knows that my master is a fellow believer and can’t punish or kill me? Should being a fellow believer be a blackmail against masters?

Should you buy my products at a cheaper cost because you are my fellow believer? Should you buy the same product from non-believers at a higher cost, but blackmail me to make it cheaper because you are my fellow believer? Should my non-believing competitors get more money from you, as I get less from you because you claim I am a fellow believer? Aren’t we abusing the fellow believer relationship?

Should I be reluctant to fire you because you are a fellow believer? You engage in gross misconduct but because you are a fellow believer I should keep forgiving you as I run into losses? Should I feel guilty and unChristian because I fired you? Should I avoid attending church because I fired you my fellow believer?

If you offered building services to a strict organisation that can easily terminate your contract or even sue you, won’t you offer the best services? Why should you offer services of a lesser quality when dealing with the church? Is it because you are a fellow believer and we shouldn’t sue each other and we shouldn’t demand too much lest you feel unfairly treated? Is the church more likely to get a better services from non-believers than from fellow believers?

Do you steal from the church knowing the probability of being taken to court is very low? This is because fellow believers should quickly forgive each other? Would the church be safer employing non-believers because fellow believers will blackmail the church?

Could the fellow believer blackmail be the reason why believers who can employ, do not employ fellow believers? Could this be the reason why we cant announce the businesses we do in church because the fellow believer syndrome will cause a surge of people to come demanding cheaper deals that run us into losses?

Apostle Paul tells believers not to take advantage of fellow believers. If you are a slave and your master is a fellow believer, don’t take advantage and give them poor services. It is wrong to take advantage of fellow believers. Give the best services!

Don’t take advantage of fellow believers. Let fellow believers with means find it advantageous to employ fellow believers. Work so well in providing services that the church will be glad they engaged a fellow believer. When you come to my business and you announce that you are a fellow believer, may that business end well with both of us being fully satisfied. To demand a cheaper deal and taking advantage of fellow believers is wrong!
