Even Beyond The Borders Of Israel

Malachi 1:5
You will see it with your own eyes and say, ‘Great is the LORD—even beyond the borders of Israel!’

When something is beyond you, it means you can’t reach it. It means your limit has been exceeded. It means you can’t do anything about it. It means that for that particular matter you are helpless. But our text today tells us that our God is great even beyond the borders of Israel.

The God of the Bible is known as the God of Israel. At a time when every nation and kingdom had their own God, the God of Israel was assumed to be limited to Israel. The God of Israel was obviously powerful and effective in Israel and among Israelites, but what about outside Israel? Our text today tells us that great is the LORD even beyond the borders of Israel!

This was a good reminder to Israelites who had been in slavery in a foreign country for seventy years. Now they lived in fear of foreign powers. They are reminded that their God, our God is not limited to Israel only. God can intervene and save us from anywhere. We can never get beyond God’s reach. God is great even beyond the borders of Israel!

Malachi reminded Israelites that Edomites who are beyond Israel were bragging and mistreating them. God went beyond the borders of Israel and crushed Edomites. God totally destroyed Edomites who were beyond the borders of Israel. God is great even beyond the borders of Israel!

The Bible is full of evidence that God is great even beyond the borders of Israel. God went to Egypt a foreign powerful land and saved His people. God went to the Philistine territory through Samson and crushed them. When Philistines stole the Ark and took it to their country, God did miracles, they became afraid and returned it. God sent Jonah to Nineveh and proved to be great even in that ruthless scary foreign country. God performed miracles in Babylon through Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego. There is enough evidence that God is great even beyond the borders of Israel!

No borders can limit God. God is great even beyond the borders of reconciliation. If reconciliation fails and one party is acting difficult, God can still act and save His own. God is great even beyond the borders of medical science. If nothing can be done to save lives and all science has been applied, do not give up on God. Failure of science is not the failure of God. God is great even beyond the borders of science. Do not limit God to any borders. God is great even beyond the borders of Israel!

What borders are limiting and hurting you? Borders of income? Borders of influence? Borders of people you know? Borders created by your enemies? Borders of your knowledge and abilities? Borders of your qualifications? Borders of who you know? We need God within our borders and even beyond. We worry when anything is beyond us, but our God has nothing beyond Him. God is great even beyond the borders of Israel!

Dear God, there are borders frustrating my life. I need to go beyond these borders. It seems am trapped and stranded here, prove as You have always done that there is no border that limits You. Dear God, people and things beyond my borders are making my life difficult, show it today that You can save me even beyond these borders, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
