” When Darkness seems to veil His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.” – _SDAH 522 My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less_ .
When darkness seems to veil His face – refers to circumstances in which it seems God is absent or He doesn’t care.
He is present but the problem is the darkness of our circumstances. Seems to veil – means actually He can’t be hidden from us by circumstances. It only seems, His absence is a fake figment of our imagination. His presence is real even in trouble. Darkness only SEEMS to veil His face.
In such situations let us rest in the reality that His grace (His goodness that we don’t deserve) will not change. He remains good even when our situation is at its worst. Rest in His unchanging grace.
In every situation (high and stormy gale) be grounded in Him whom darkness seems to veil…let your anchor go beyond the veil of circumstances and hold onto Jesus.
What darkness is veiling His face today? Brokenness or poverty? Failure? Disappointment? Betrayal? Pain?
When darkness seems to veil His face…may you find peace in Jesus name. Amen!
