When all around my soul gives way – soul refers to entirety of one’s life. To give way means the situation is out of control.
When the situation gets out of control then it is right to say you are overwhelmed with the floods of life. Your existence, purpose and achievements are threatened!
He then is all my hope and stay. A stay is that which holds something from swinging out of control or dangerously and carelessly. A door stay ensures the door’s swing is controlled to avoid banging or hurting someone or remaining open when it should be closed.
When all else fails and falls apart in life… May God be our hope OUT OF the situation and stay DURING the situation. May God be our hope and stay today in Jesus name. Amen!
