“The raging floods may round us beat, A shelter in the time of storm, __*We find in God a safe retreat,_*_ A shelter in the time of storm.” – _SDAH 528 – Stanza 3._
( *Psalm 46:1* God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. )
*We find in God a safe retreat* . We retreat when threatened. We retreat when insecure. We retreat when overwhelmed. We retreat to be safe. We retreat to reorganize and launch back again.
But where do we retreat to? To family and friends who can betray? To material things which depreciate? To silence, stress and depression which kills? To alcohol and other drugs which enslave? To despair and worry which tax strength and deliver back nothing? To workaholism which drains and pays us with fatigue? To books and strategies that are outdated? Where do we retreat to, since we regularly must retreat? The above quoted song affirms and recommends that – *we find in God a safe retreat!* May you find in God a safe retreat today and forever more. Amen!
