What a sobering question! The anchor is what sailors rely on to stabilize and stop the ship even in the wildest storms. But weak anchors have failed and risked lives and goods. Weak anchors have been found useless when a serious storm appears. Property and lives have been lost because of anchors that failed in times of storms. Will your anchor hold as you sail off to the sea of life today?
Will my formula of getting out of trouble work incase a crisis befell me today? What is your formula and method of getting out of trouble? Is it saved money? Insurance cover? Connection with people? Academic achievements? Experience? Witchcraft? Etc. Will it work?
The rest of the song affirms that Jesus is a better anchor that has never failed. May Jesus be your anchor today…and may He cause you to rejoice IN THE STORM and DURING THE STORM as you sing ” *We have an anchor!* ” When others ask how you survived you tell them, ” *We have an anchor* !” When people in desperation ask you, what will you do, how will you survive…may your answer referring to Jesus affirm, ” *We have an anchor!* ” Whatever comes our way today…we have Jesus and our response is, ” *We have an anchor!* ”
