Leviticus 2:1
“‘When anyone brings a grain offering to the LORD, their offering is to be of the finest flour. They are to pour olive oil on it, put incense on it
This section of the book of Leviticus discusses grain offerings. As part of the many offerings Israelites gave to their God, grain offerings came with instructions on how to give. What is repeatedly mentioned in this section is that when you give grain offerings, give it as flour. If you give flour give the finest!
Most grains were consumed after grinding them into flour. Therefore, as one gives grains, they were supposed to process the grain into flour. Flour was the value-added grain. Flour made the product attractive and ready to use. If you give flour give the finest!
During the process of grinding flour, several grades would appear. Least ground, medium ground, and the finest the best ground. The best flour was the finest flour. If you give flour give the finest!
What God was telling the Israelites is that they should give their best. When you give your best, it shows that you love the one you are giving. You give them what is ready to use. When you give the finest flour it shows that you are a cheerful giver. God loves a cheerful giver. If you give flour give the finest!
Blessings do not come because you gave, but because you gladly gave the one you loved. You do not get blessed for just giving routinely. You do not get blessed because you gave a lot. You get blessed because you gladly gave the best. If you give flour give the finest!
If you give God the finest flour, you remain with the rest. He didn’t say give everything, He said just give the finest. As you consume the rest and you remember that you gave the finest to the God of heaven, it reminds you of your love and commitment to Him. God blesses the rest of the grains you remain with because you gave Him the best. The remaining grains will serve you longer and better because you gave God the best. If you give flour give the finest!
If you give God time during your day, give God the best. Not all but the best. In the morning when you rise, give God your time, say a prayer, read the word of God and pray again. When you give God your best time, He blesses the rest of the day and it becomes much more productive. If you give flour give the finest!
How do you give the best money to God? All money is the same, isn’t it? Well, when budgeting your money, put God first. Set aside what you will give to God and then give it immediately. That is how we give the best of our monies. If you give flour give the finest!
Giving the best shows love. Giving the best shows commitment. Giving the best contributes to our spiritual growth. Giving the best causes what we remain with to serve us better. Giving the best triggers a flood of blessings to come our way. Whatever you give, give the best. If you give flour give the finest!
Forgive us God for not giving the best in the past. Help us from today henceforth to give the best. As we give our best, may the best of your blessings happen to us even today, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
