To Find Fulfillment Revolve Around This …

Numbers 2:2
“The Israelites are to camp around the tent of meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard and holding the banners of their family.”

This chapter shows a very high level of a community organization that God commanded Israelites to follow. You read the whole chapter and you are left impressed. This chapter should be read by town planners and people who plan events and camps. Anything haphazard and chaotic is contrary to God’s will.

God tells Moses and Aaron to organize Israelites as indicated in the chapter. All Israelites are to live around the tent of meeting. The tent of meeting is the place of worship. This tent of meeting is also known as the Tabernacle. The Tabernacle is the same as Sanctuary and Temple. All Israelites were to live around the tent of meeting.

The twelve tribes and their numbers are all shown in this chapter. Three tribes should live on the east side and the order is given. Three other tribes south and others west. The last three tribes are to stay north of the tent of meeting. The leaders are indicated and the order of which tribe is close to the center as they move outward is also given.

Levites were not counted and they stayed on all sides around the tent of meeting. At the center of the Israelite camp was the place of worship aka tent of meeting. Next to the center on all sides were Levite homes. After Levite homes, each tribe was assigned a place as indicated above. Three tribes on each side.

This is how planning should be done. Have the plan first. Write down the plan in detail. Share it with leaders. God had the plan and He shared it with Moses and Aaron. All who will implement it must know the plan first. Then everyone else is told about the plan. The plan must be cascaded top-down before implementation. The plan should be simple and clear to understand. This is how planning should be done.

The design given by God was that the Israelite camp and all its activities will revolve around worship. The point of reference was the place of worship and its activities. The design reminded them of the place of God in their lives. God is central and supreme.

Many of our cities and towns today are built around the main shopping streets. The message and constant reminder of this design are that business and money are at the center of our lives. Many learning institutions even those that are religious are built with the Academic building or Administration building at the center. The message is clear.

Israelites were successful because their lives revolved around their worship of God. Their constant point of reference was God. When they moved, the Levites and place of worship moved first. When they settled, the Levites and place of worship settled first. God was the center that couldn’t be ignored.

If we are to find fulfillment, our lives should also revolve around God. We should place activities and reminders that make God central and supreme in our lives. We should punctuate our lives with worship and references to God. A life built around God is a life of fulfillment!

Let the picture on your walls remind you about God. Let the screen savers on your gadgets remind you about God. Let your alarm tone, ring tone all remind you about God. Let your car music and programs you watch remind you about God. A life that revolves around God is a fulfilling life!

What is your bedtime culture? Build it around God. What is your morning routine? Build it around God. What is your normal response to difficulty or good occurrences? Design it to make God supreme.

What are your exclamations? Make them exclamations of praise to God or a reminder of His grace and mercy. How do you respond when you are offended? Do you call Mom or friends? Why not design it so that you call God first? How do you report good news? Why not make it a culture to begin and end with acknowledgment of God. A life that revolves around God is fulfilling!

Help me, dear God, that I may build my life around you. Help me, dear God, to make You the center of everything. May I find fulfillment in You my God, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
