Ephesians 1:19-20
and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength (20) he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
Contemporary English Version
I want you to know about the great and mighty power that God has for us followers. It is the same wonderful power he used (20) when he raised Christ from death and let him sit at his right side in heaven.
Good News Translation
and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength (20) which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.
New Living Translation
I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power (20) that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
How much power do you have? How much can your power achieve? Is your power, limited or unlimited? In case of a medical emergency, how much can the power you have do? In case of a dire need for money to address an emerging crisis, how much can your power do? If you were threatened, can your power protect you from all physical harm or only some physical harm? We need power if we are to go through life.
We have power because of the wealth we have made. We have power because of our level of education. We have power because of the position and rank we hold in organizations or society. We have power that is given to us by election to office. We have power because of weapons we possess that can deter and harm the enemy. We have power because of our physical fitness and the muscles we can exert. We have power because we are older and the younger must obey us. How much power do we need?
Without power, you can’t do much. You will remain at the mercy of others. Without power, you can’t achieve any of your goals in life. We need physical power. We need financial power. We need muscular power. We need literacy power. We need electric power. We need political power. Above all else, we need spiritual power. How many and how much of each of these powers do you have? Do you have enough power to have your way?
The Bible tells us today that God has given believers power. Your question is how much can that power do? The Bible tells us that the power God has given us is the very power that raised Jesus from the dead. The power God has given us is the very power that raised Christ from the dead and placed Him at the right hand of God in heaven. If you had this power, would you need more?
To what power would you compare power that raises from the dead? To what power would you equate with power that raises and places one on the right hand of God? If you had this power, would you need more?
Would you exchange this God-given power for any other limited ordinary powers on earth? Would you risk losing this God-given power just to gain the highly limited financial power or whatever else power? Power to raise the dead and place them in eternal life in heaven. Power to place someone at the right hand of God. If you had this power, would you need more?
If this power can raise Christ from the dead, can it raise low finances? Can it raise dying marriages? Dying relationships? Can it raise weakening health? Can it raise low grades? Can it raise hopes that were dashed by bad experiences? If you had this power, would you need more?
If this power that is availed to us who believe in God, is the power that placed Jesus on the right hand of God, where can’t it place us? Is there a higher and nobler place more than God’s throne? If the power God has availed to us can place us in His throne, it can sure place us in earthly positions. If you had this power, would you need more?
This power that God avails to us, has already achieved the extreme that seemed impossible and what now remains are the small possible matters. This power seems to be more than the ultimate that anyone would ever need. If you had this power, would you need more?
This power enabled David to kill Goliath. This power made Solomon the wisest man. This power gave academic excellence to Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego. This power opened the Red sea. This power converted Saul the persecutor to Paul the Apostle. This power turned uneducated fishermen into respectable global characters who spread the gospel. This power caused the fire not to burn the faithfuls who were thrown in. This power prevented Paul from dying after a very poisonous snake bit him. This power made hungry lions that normally ate people to lose appetite for a whole night when Daniel was thrown to them. This power caused martyrs to stand by their faith even to the point of death. This is a power that is all-around and affects everything and not just the spiritual. If you had this power, would you need more?
Dear God, this power is enough for me. This power is all I need in my life. This power is enough for my health, my finances, my academic work, my social life, and my spiritual life. Grant me this power, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
