Terms and Conditions Apply 

1 Kings 8:25 – “Now LORD, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me faithfully as you have done.’

This is the prayer of king Solomon during the dedication of the magnificent Temple. Solomon remembers the promises of God and prays that they are fulfilled. Solomon also highlights that God’s promises have conditions. Terms and conditions apply!

God has made many promises in the Bible. When we pray, we can rightfully claim these promises. However, we shouldn’t forget that terms and conditions apply.

As we claim the promises of God, have we met the terms and conditions? For example- “forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us.” Have we forgiven everyone who trespassed against us? We will not be forgiven unless we forgive others. Terms and conditions apply!

Isaiah 58:13 – “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

Isaiah 58:14 – then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

If you desire to find joy in the LORD. If you desire to ride in triumph on the heights of the land, meaning you will be the best among people in the land. If you desire to feast on the inheritance of your ancestors, that is to enjoy the present life in totality. The condition given is you must not break the sabbath. Keep the biblical sabbath as a condition. Terms and conditions apply!

You can’t desire the promise and be mischievous when it comes to conditions. We must fulfill the conditions and God will keep the promises. Terms and conditions apply!

There are promises for genuine believers. Unless you are a genuine active believer it will not be fulfilled. Meet that condition before claiming that promise. Terms and conditions apply.

There are promises for those who actively attend worship. Promises for those who return tithes and offerings. Promises for those who wait on God. Those conditions must be fulfilled before the blessing comes. Terms and conditions apply!

When we read the Bible we get blessed. You can’t get blessed unless you read it. Some things will only happen if we pray. Unless we pray, we shouldn’t expect anything. Those are conditions. Terms and conditions apply!

Some blessings are attached to obeying parents. Particularly the blessings of a long life. No amount of healthy living will deliver a long life if we are disobedient to our parents. The conditions are clear. Therefore for such blessings, terms and conditions apply!

If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The condition for forgiveness is confession and repentance. There is no other way to receive forgiveness. That is the condition given. For forgiveness, terms and conditions apply!

Salvation is free but there is a condition that we must believe. Faith connects us to the free salvation. Without faith it is impossible to please God. We must believe if we are to be saved, those are the conditions. Terms and conditions apply!

Dear God, may I read your word daily to understand what you expect of me. May I be blessed for reading your word and praying. Help me in my weakness to fulfill the conditions. May blessings be my daily portion, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
