Ecclesiastes 7:21* “Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you– *(7:22)* for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.”
Don’t pay attention to everything people say. Somethings people say are good and help us correct our ways but most of the other things only distract us from happy living. The word of God says today – don’t be so mindful of everything people say. Some is beneficial but most is balderdash.
First reason is that you may hear your reliable colleagues cursing you. You may get discouraged. You may loose focus. Yet the cursing may be of no effect in the long run. Your supporters curse you in secrecy for survival in case your opponents win they are safe, but in essence they still love you. So don’t mind what people say.
Second reason is that you yourself do speak careless words about others, which when exposed, you wouldn’t want them taken seriously. Therefore do not take seriously what others say about you, unless you have reason to take them seriously. Do not mind what people say.
Third is that your concern over what people say doesn’t stop them from speaking, it only sends them into hiding. Your concern makes the talk juicier and accelerates it. To kill the vibe, the Bible says – don’t mind what people say.
Lastly such concerns will depress you, worry you and affect the quality of your performance and life. It is a sign of very poor leadership to pay attention to everything people say. It is irresponsible Christianity to ignore biblical counsel and be over concerned about what people say. If you pay attention to what people say, it will affect the quality of your life and improve nothing. To be happy – don’t mind what people say!
May God grant us the grace today and afterwards to know what to care about and what to ignore…may He help us not to mind what people say about us, in Jesus name. Amen!
