2 Peter 2:14
With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed —an accursed brood!
New Living Translation
They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse.
Contemporary English Version
All they think about is having sex with someone else’s husband or wife. There is no end to their wicked deeds. They trick people who are easily fooled, and their minds are filled with greedy thoughts. But they are headed for trouble!
Apostle Peter tells the church about wicked people who are in the church. He predicts their soon coming destruction. Corrupt people in church as members, 2 Peter 2:10. Wicked people who enjoy committing evil.
2 Peter 2:12 tells us that this people are blasphemous. They do not reverence God. They have no respect for God. They speak and act in a manner to suggest that God is equal to them.
2 Peter 2:13 Peter tells the church that these people have caused harm to others and the church. They harm others. They cause others to give up and cry. They feel powerful and untouched. Peter predicts that for the harm they caused, they will be harmed too as a punishment from God. Beware that for every harm you have brought or bring to others, God will in an act of the justice, bring you harm.
2 Peter 2:14
With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed —an accursed brood!
Peter tells us that these people who are wicked yet in the church are people who never stop sinning. They have tendencies to commit adultery in every way including through their eyes. They are greedy and unstable the Apostle goes on to speak of them. A cursed people!
What catches our attention today is that these people seduce others into sin. Who do they seduce? Those with money? Those with education? Those who are handsome or beautiful? Who do they seduce?
The Bible gives the most shocking answer. Those who are seduced are those who are spiritually weak, unstable and uncommitted in faith. Those who are seduced are those who are hell bound.
For a long time the seducer is projected as the evil one. For a long time the seducer was seen as the aggressor while the seduced is an innocent victim of the seducer.
The seduced or seducee is one who has accepted the proposals of the seducer. Until one accepts the proposal of the seducer, he or she is not a seducee or seduced person.
The Bible tells us that the seducee is as evil as the seducer. None is the victim of the other, they are both victims of sin entertained in life. Birds of a feather flock together. The seducer did not confuse and cheat the seducee, no, the seducee was all along entertaining those wicked thoughts that the seducer brought. Therefore, both the seducer and seducee need help, equal help!
Are you the seducer or seducee? No difference, you are evil and hell-bound except for the amazing grace of God. May God save us from sin so that we will not be seducers and seducers will not find a weak ground to settle in, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
