Micah 5:2
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”
Being small will many times be disadvantageous. Small May come with weakness and vulnerability. Small May come with insignificance. Small May correctly be said to be an unfortunate place to be.
The Prophecy of Micah chapter five is one of the accurate predictions of the coming of Jesus. This chapter tells us about the coming Messiah. This chapter tells us with a precision that Jesus will be born in Bethlehem.
Prophet Micah tells the people of Bethlehem that though they are considered small and insignificant, yet out of them will come the greatest ruler of Israel. The greatest ruler of Jesus will be born in Bethlehem. Though you are small, the greatest ruler will come from you.
Though you are small means that your being small is not a misfortune. Your being small will not deny you what the great have. Your being small will not be a reason to regret. Your being small will not remove your place in history. Though you are small a great ruler will come out of you!
God is in the business of ensuring that all those who are dismissed as small, will not regret being small. When God makes you small or allows you to be perceived as small, you are not small. Though you are small God will magnify you for His own glory.
When He says that though you are small, it is an acknowledgment that Bethlehem is small. In order to move from small to great, you must accept that for now, you are small. You only appreciate what God will do if you know where you are.
Though you are small carries a promise that being small is not a permanent state of affairs. Though you are small you will not remain small. Though you are small it’s just for now.
1 Samuel 16:11
So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
David was the youngest son of Jesse and he had been forgotten from the kingship interview. Though he was the youngest God did not forget him. Though you are small in the sight of friends and relatives, God will not forget you.
Zechariah 4:10
“Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the LORD that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?”
Prophet Zechariah tells Israelites that though the temple under construction is small compared to the former temple, it shouldn’t be despised. Though what is going on is small, it will not remain small. Though the construction going on is small it will bring joy.
Matthew 17:20
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Though your faith is as small as a mustard seed, it will do greater things such as even moving a mountain. Though your faith is small, it is enough for God to bless you. Though your faith is small, nothing will be impossible for you. Though you are small!
Though you are small in your family, God will bless you. Though you are small at work. Though you are small in school. Though you are small in business. Though you are small in your own eyes. God who makes the small is the same God who will magnify the small.
Do not despair though you are small. Do not fear though you are small. Do not feel intimidated though you are small. God does great things for the small. May it be so in Jesus’s name, Amen!

And how do you grapple with being overlooked for being small? For at times it takes a toil on you
If you can ignore it, please do. If you can’t ignore it, address it. Confront the one overlooking you. Report the person overlooking you. Pray about it!
