Leviticus 4:2
“Say to the Israelites: ‘When anyone sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD’s commands —
Sin is contrary to God’s will. Sin disrupted the good plans God had for His creation and creatures. Sin came to stop us on our progress as we bonded with our Creator. Therefore to allow sin to stop anyone, is to favor sin and not the will of God. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
The message in Leviticus chapter four is that anyone can sin. While this chapter focuses on unintentional sin, the Bible does talk also of forgiveness of intentional sins. On this website we have an article on intentional sin, you can look at it, https://reikesis.com/keep-me-from-willful-deliberate-intentional-sins/.This chapter of the Bible tells us that if someone sins, that shouldn’t end their relationship with God, with one another, or even their entire life. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
The chapter mentions various people who may find themselves having sinned unintentionally. The list is all-encompassing. All of us can potentially sin unintentionally. We should be kind and polite to each other. Do not end someone’s life, career, business, relationships, etc. because of sin. Sin has aGod given solution so that it doesn’t become an end. Anyone can be stopped by sin, but do not accept to stop. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
Leviticus 4:3
“‘If the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he must bring to the LORD a young bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he has committed.
A priest, a religious leader, highly revered and leading people in worship, can commit sin according to God. While we hold priests in very high regard, God lists them first as among those who can sin and need forgiveness. A priest shouldn’t be stopped from his calling because of unintentional sin. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
Leviticus 4:13
“‘If the whole Israelite community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD’s commands, even though the community is unaware of the matter, when they realize their guilt
A whole community can sin. A whole community can join hands in sinning. A community that sins is subject to a curse that will bring destruction and its end. But God has opened a door so that sin will not bring an end to the whole community. Seeking forgiveness as a community will avert the crisis. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
Leviticus 4:22
“‘When a leader sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the commands of the LORD his God, when he realizes his guilt
Leaders can sin. Leaders can make mistakes. Leaders can fail miserably. Leaders can embarrass themselves and others. In God’s plan, that shouldn’t be the end. Forgiveness and moving on should be possible. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
Leviticus 4:27
“‘If any member of the community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD’s commands, when they realize their guilt
The last category is all of us. Any member of the community can sin. Any member of the community can be a victim of sin. Any member of the community can be at risk of being stopped by sin. God says it should not be so. Any member of the community should be given another chance to move on where sin attempted to stop them. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
The sacrificial system was God’s plan to ensure sin does not stop anyone. The sacrificial system was a way of confessing, showing remorse for sin, and repenting. God does not want sin to stop us. We shouldn’t allow sin to stop us. We shouldn’t work with sin to stop anyone. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
Sin will target all of us. Sin will target priests. Sin will target the whole community. Sin will target leaders. Sin will target any member of the society. Sin will seek to break relationships. Sin will seek to affect finances. Sin will attack our health. Sin will bring failures and discouragement. Sin will bring guilt and drive us away from God. Sin aims at stopping us, we shouldn’t cooperate with sin by stopping ourselves or anyone. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
Church discipline is necessary, but it aims at restoring and not permanently severing any relationship. Any discipline that doesn’t give the sinner a chance is not from God. Any discipline that makes it difficult for the sinner to be back to normal is not from God. Any discipline that makes us holier than the sinner and not sympathetic people, is not from God. We should handle people who sin with sympathy, we too will need sympathy. Any discipline that leaves the sinner in darkness with no light at the end is demonic. Even the worst sinner must be given another chance. No one should be stopped by sin. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
How do we move on after sin? We confess, we repent, and subsequently by God’s Spirit change our ways. God forgives us so that we can move on after sin stops us. We should forgive those who offend us so that they move on. Sin shouldn’t stop anyone just move on!
Dear God lead me to confession and true repentance. May I not be stopped by sin. May I never stop anyone who has been affected by sin. May I offer support for others to move on in new life after the pain of sin, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
