Psalms 5:3
In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.
New Living Translation
Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
Contemporary English Version
Each morning you listen to my prayer, as I bring my requests to you and wait for your reply.
Request time is a time designated for requests to be received and processed. Request time means other times may not always be best for making requests. Request time is a call for us to take advantage of and make requests before that time ends. It is therefore good advice that we do not waste the request time.
There are Radio and Television programs that are dubbed request time. During this time listeners and viewers call the studio and request for songs to be played. They also call the studio and request to send greetings to loved ones. After the request time, this is not possible. Anyone calling after the request time will be directed to the next request time program. Do not waste the request time!
Through prayers, we make requests to God at any time. Our requests to God can be made at any time and God will hear us and respond according to His mercies and grace. If we do not pray, we are wasting the request time. Do not waste this request time by not praying!
The Psalm of David chapter five that we are focusing on today tells us that morning is request time. David says he makes requests to God in the morning and then he spends the rest of the day waiting for God’s response. Morning can also be said to be request time. Do not waste the request time!
SDAH 039 – Lord, In The Morning
1
Lord, in the morning Thou shalt hear
My voice ascending high;
To Thee will I direct my prayer,
To Thee lift up mine eye-
2
Up to the hills where Christ is gone
To plead for all His saints,
Presenting at His Father’s throne
Our songs and our complaints.
3
O may Thy Spirit guide my feet
In ways of righteousness;
Make every path of duty straight
And plain before my face.
4
The men that love and fear Thy name
Shall see their hopes fulfilled;
The mighty God will compass them
With favor as a shield.
David says morning is his request time. It doesn’t mean that requests cannot be made at other times. David focuses on the morning time as special for request making. Do not waste this request time!
In the morning we are looking forward to a whole day of activities. There is no activity that can succeed through our own efforts only. Therefore, we need to make requests so that God can step in and grant success. That, therefore, makes morning the ideal request time!
After a whole night of rest and thinking, we get a clear way forward that we wish God would help us with. Therefore when we wake up, morning becomes the ideal request time. Do not waste this request time!
You cant make requests unless you have priorities. What are your plans for the day? What are your priorities? What do you wish to achieve? Bring all these to the attention of God through prayer requests. Do not waste this request time!
May we use our mornings to send requests to God. Do not waste this request time, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
