He Finishes What You Start

Judges 4:15
At Barak’s advance, the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and army by the sword, and Sisera got down from his chariot and fled on foot.

New Living Translation
When Barak attacked, the LORD threw Sisera and all his chariots and warriors into a panic. Sisera leaped down from his chariot and escaped on foot.

Contemporary English Version
And during the battle, the LORD confused Sisera, his chariot drivers, and his whole army. Everyone was so afraid of Barak and his army, that even Sisera jumped down from his chariot and tried to escape.

Good News Translation
When Barak attacked with his army, the LORD threw Sisera into confusion together with all his chariots and men. Sisera got down from his chariot and fled on foot.

The Bible tells us today that When Barak advanced into the battle against Sisera, God stepped in and fought the rest of the battle. God did not act until Barak acted. Barak was initially afraid of going to war. Deborah the leader of Israel at that time had to urge Barak to fight this battle as per God’s command.

Barak had to trust that God will not leave him alone in the battle. Barak had to trust and have faith that he will not lose the battle because God is with him. There was only one way to demonstrate that faith and that was to get into the battle. When he demonstrated faith by advancing into battle, God stepped in and rewarded that faith by fighting the rest of the battle. He finishes what you start!

Abraham’s faith was tested by his journey to the mountain to slaughter his son. It was not counted as faith until he actually raised the knife with the intention to kill his son. Then God stepped in and said that He now knows that Abraham’s love is unconditional and true. It was only after he acted. If you act, God does the rest. He finishes what you start!

If Barak had sat praying and fasting God would not step in to help him. If Barak had sat waiting for a miracle, none would happen. God only acted when Barak advanced into battle. He finishes what you start!

Is it possible that God is waiting for you to advance in that business? To take the step and start doing it? Is it possible that God is waiting for you to approach that potential partner then He does the rest? Is it possible God is waiting for you to enroll in school and start classes for Him to do the rest? Is it possible that God is waiting for you to start that project then He does the rest of what you need? God was waiting for Barak to advance in war. When Barak advanced, God stepped in and did the rest. He finishes what you start!

God is waiting for you and me to make an advanced step into something and He will do the rest for us. May God help us to take that bold step of faith today, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
