1 Timothy 2:3-4
(3) This is good, and pleases God our Savior, (4) who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
This is a profound statement about the intentions of God. God is a Savior. All that God wants is that all people should get saved. God wants all people to be saved.
All people to be saved. Not Jews only but all people. Not Christians only but all people. Not the western world only but even the rest of the world. Not only those who have heard the gospel but even those who haven’t. God’s aim is that all people get saved.
God wants all people to be saved. That is what God wants. God doesn’t want more monies from the church. God doesn’t want more singing and more preaching. God wants all people to be saved. God doesn’t want us to master scriptures and participate in rituals. God wants all people to be saved.
God’s aim is not poverty eradication but salvation. God’s aim is not to promote morality, but the salvation of all people. God’s aim is not to have a vegetarian population. God’s aim is not to heal the sick, perform miracles, etc. God wants all people to be saved!
Though God wants all people to be saved, it is not the same as saying all people will be saved regardless of their choices. God’s wish and desire is that all people get saved. However, each individual makes a choice whether to get saved or remain lost. All of us are lost and we choose to get saved or remain lost. If you make no choice at all and you imagine you are neutral, you are wrong. What you imagine to be neutral is a decision to remain lost. We can only choose salvation or remain lost. God’s wish is that we would choose salvation. He wants all people to be saved!
Matthew 25:41 tells us that hellfire was prepared for the devil and his angels. Hell was never prepared for human beings. However, there are human beings who will end up in hell by their own choice contrary to God’s will. God’s desire is that no one ends up in hell and that everyone gets saved. He wants all people to be saved.
Grant us salvation dear God as you have willed. Save us from our daily challenges and save us eventually into eternal life, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
