I Praise God for Arresting This Wickedness!

Zechariah 5:7-8
(7) Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman! (8) He said, “This is wickedness,” and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed its lead cover down on it.

Zechariah is shown a vision of wickedness symbolized as a woman sitting in a basket that is covered. The cover or lead of the basket is opened for the prophet to see that it is wickedness that is inside. Then just before the wickedness is set free to torment people, God shuts it in again!

God pushes wickedness back into the confines of that basket. God stops wickedness from running out and causing havoc. God pushes it back and covers the basket again. By doing that, God stopped wickedness from running out and causing chaos.

God pushes wickedness back into that basket because it wants to run out. God pushes back because it was trying to escape. By pushing it back, God arrests wickedness. Then secures the basket by covering its lead.

Wickedness is godlessness. Wickedness is sinfulness. Wickedness is a rejection of God. Wickedness is actively or passively showing disinterest in the things of God. Wickedness is wishing others harm. Wickedness is harming others. Wickedness is injustice. Wickedness is selfishness. Wickedness is hatred. Wickedness includes catastrophic events. Wickedness is everything bad that came with sin and ruined our relationship with God and others.
If wickedness is let loose, we are all in trouble. When God permitted satan to visit job with his wickedness, Job suffered. Job lost wealth, health, and children. That is what wickedness does. In the book of Zechariah, God arrests wickedness and locks it safely in a basket. We are safe because God has arrested wickedness!

This basket of evil almost got opened but God pushed back the evil and locked it up safely. Wickedness almost got loose in my office, in my business, and in my family, but God pushed it back and locked the basket. I praise God for arresting this wickedness!

What would happen to you if wickedness was set free to roam into your studies and health? What if wickedness got free to visit your children? What would happen if wickedness visited your job where you are established or your business that you depend on? I praise God for arresting this wickedness!

Dear God, I feel threatened by the wickedness around me. Arrest it, push it back and lock it up for my safety and your glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
