Colossians 1:26
the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people.
Colossians 1:27
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
A mystery is something hard to understand and many times are hidden from us. Therefore the revelation of a mystery may be elating news or could turn out to be a fake story. An exposed mystery or a mystery explained will quickly attract people who want to know even just for the sake of knowing. Therefore because of this desire to crack mysteries, we have developed conspiracy theories and push around fake stories that millions keep believing even after being officially refuted. We are sick, we love any mystery even if it is a blatant lie, we would prefer it.
The obsession with mysteries has caused us to give the Bible an allegorical approach yet in a simple straightforward manner it would correctly make sense. The obsession with mysteries has made us prefer weird sects and other heretic movements over the simple straightforward organizations. The obsession with mysteries has made us follow religious leaders who exploit us because we are addicted to something mysterious about them. We are a society pursuing mysterious living and discovering mysteries.
We read too much into actions by governments and leaders near us. We read too much into people we seek to understand. We read too much into people’s words, we even get offended yet they never intended any harm. We read too much because we have tuned our minds to ignore the obvious self-evident truth and only go for a mysterious truth which many times is not the truth. We see mystery in the origin of pandemics. We see mystery in public vaccinations. We see mystery because we want to see the mystery. We are obsessed with and addicted to mysteries.
The bible tells us that there is a mystery we should be concerned about. In our text today, we are told there is a mystery that has been kept hidden for ages. Just that statement would totally excite mystery lovers. A mystery hidden for ages? Wow! Stop everything and let’s get into this. The mystery in our text has been disclosed to God’s people. God in His wisdom discloses it to His people. Therefore the mystery we are pursuing is only revealed to God’s people. If you do not belong to our God, the God of the Bible, then the mystery you know is the fake mystery.
The mystery is Christ Jesus in us, the hope of glory. Any mystery that does not expose Jesus in us is not worth our attention. Any mystery that does not give hope of glory is just a tool of attention-seeking. Any mystery that focuses on the enemies of God and their activities instead of focusing on Jesus, is a fake mystery and not worth our attention in reading or forwarding. Any mystery that plants fear and apprehension instead of the hope of glory is not a mystery we should waste time pursuing. Fear-mongering is not evangelism, is not biblical, and is not even professional.
The book of Revelation the last book of the Bible is a revelation of a mystery. The mystery is Jesus. Revelation 1:1, the revelation of Jesus Christ. This is the mystery we should think about and arrive at. Mysteries on geopolitics is not of our keen interest. We just want to know Jesus and Him crucified, 1 Corinthians 2:2. Mysteries on diseases and medications are not things we should invest too much into cracking. Jesus is the ultimate mystery that gives us hope of glory. This is the mystery to be concerned about.
Other mysteries leave us depressed and nothing more. Other mysteries leave us looking educated and knowledgeable but nothing more. Other mysteries make us look well-read but nothing more. Other mysteries make us look religious and very concerned about spiritual matters and that is all. But the mystery of Jesus gives hope. The mystery of Jesus brings salvation. The mystery of Jesus makes us glad. This is the mystery to be concerned about.
May the mystery of Jesus be revealed to us daily. May the revelation of the mystery of Jesus bring us immense blessings today and beyond, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Oh, the greatest challenge with many preachers. End times events….,….. That it lacks gospel
Yes sir, lost focus, but Jesus beckons us back to focus on Him and not on world events
The Sanctuary is a mystery to many of us as believers and other well meaning Christian not in the fold….this mystery….is it ok to ignore. Can I know the right Jesus without understanding the Sanctuary truth? And other things like 666 and it’s significance in the end time.
A mystery and a difficult topic are different. A topic may be difficult but not mysterious. We should not ignore anything that God has revealed in scripture and neither should we treat as a mystery what is not a mystery but only having some difficulty. What is difficult should be simplified so that everyone understands. Mysteries belong to God and He reveals to whoever He wishes. The poorly attended to mystery is Jesus Christ…
Amen, Jesus Christ our redeemer
