2 Corinthians 5:11
Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.
A believer is like an actor on the stage. Knowingly and unknowingly he or she is being observed. As someone has correctly put it, the world is watching the church.
The world wants to see if believers who preach water actually take that water. The world wants evidence that taking water is possible as it has been preached. Does your life match your sermons?
If your message is clear, your actions should be equally clear. You can’t preach clear dictates of God upon our lives then you live an amorphous life. Our lifestyle must be as plain as our sermons!
A sermon should be simple and clear. A sermon should be understood by every listener regardless of their level of education. Are your sermons simple and clear? Can children relate to what you are saying? We should make our messages plain and simple!
Apostle Paul tells the church that the believers’ lifestyle is plain before God and he hopes it’s also plain before everyone else. The opposite of a plain life is a vague life. Vague is fake!
The formula of living a consistent plain life is to ensure that your life is first plain before God. We can’t fool God. If we live a life approved by God, all others will follow suit or be inconsequential. The opposite of a plain life is a vague life. Vague is fake!
Be plain don’t be vague. If you don’t like something, say it wisely before the concerned. Don’t praise someone in public and later complain about him or her. That is vague. Vague is fake!
Be plain when handling money that others have an interest in. It is not your money. Account openly and publicly. Being vague makes you a corrupt individual.
When Christians date, they avoid the temptation of sexual sin. They are plain about it. They tell the other person not to even suggest it. They are plain about what they can and can’t do. Vague is fake!
When Christians can’t do something they say NO! They are plain. They don’t say yes to impress yet it is something they can’t do. They would rather hurt you now than hurt you later conclude. Vague is fake!
Christians are not embarrassed about being Christians. They don’t hide their faith. They don’t pretend to be what they are not. They are plain. Vague is fake!
Christians avoid double standards. Having different standards for the same thing. Treating people with favoritism. They avoid vague standards and prefer to be plain. Vague is fake!
May God help us to live plain lives before Him and the World, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
