For True Christianity Take The Opposite Direction!

Luke 6:28 – bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Luke 6:29 – If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.

Luke 6:29  If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. If someone grabs your shirt, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it.(Message Bible)

Jesus used the sermon on the mountain to orient His disciples to what He was calling them to. Jesus used this sermon to show His listeners the difference between what He offers and what other religious organizations of that time offered. At the end of listening to the sermon by Jesus, it becomes clear that Christianity is opposite of everything we have known.

Christianity is not opposite to any culture for the sake of being opposite. Christianity is not opposite because it thrives on getting attention. Christianity is not opposite for the sake of being a nuisance or masquerading as better than others.

Christianity is opposite to all cultures past, present and even future before parousia. This is because Christianity offers something different but better. It is not just a different option, it is actually a different but better option.

It is not enough for a Christian to be different. A Christian should be different and better. Christian business ideals should be different and better and bringing profit. A Christian marriage is not just different but better at bringing joy, happiness and fulfillment. A Christian education is not just about cramming passages, religious texts and having drills. Christian education should have better outcomes in the kind of person that comes out of the school.

Everything Christian must be good and appealing. Different and better. A Christian diet should empower us to serve better and live long quality lives. A Christian diet should leave us with a glowing skin as opposed to emaciated persons who are avoiding everything essential.

Christianity may conflict with the current establishment but its outcomes are desirable. You will know them by their fruits, Jesus said. Whatever course of action we take in the name of Christianity, will be assessed by its end results. By who people have become by following that path.

Everything in the sermon on the mount was opposite of what people expected, but not just different but better. When provoked physically, fighting back continues aggression and hostility. Jesus said, take physical assault without avenging. Without avenging and with reconciliation efforts, Jesus leaves a place better than the vengeful spirit of the world.

Read the sermon on the Mount, Luke 6:17-49. Read it and appreciate the fact that Jesus brought something opposite, different, and better. Jesus gave a blue print to a better community and life.

All Christians should live a life that is opposite and different from what non-Christians live. Opposite and different food. Opposite and different drinks. Opposite and different love relationship. Opposite and different disagreement in relationship. When we disagree we don’t disagree like non-believers. Opposite and different leadership style. Opposite and different reaction to offense. Opposite and different in everything. However it is not enough to be opposite and different, the end result must be better and desirable by everyone! Opposite and different but better!

Cultic behavior is when emphasis is on being opposite and different but not on being better. Cults thrive on the belief that because they are opposite and different from everyone, they are better and heaven bound unlike others. Christianity must not just be opposite and different but also better. There is no better outcome in children being out of regular school and without proper socialization. There is no better outcome in avoiding modern medicine and mortality rate rises yet Solutions are available. There is no better outcome if your choice of diet leaves you emaciated and wasted. There is no better outcome if your religious group isolates you from people and you almost live in hiding, hard to find like a wanted criminal. Yet Jesus interacted with everyone and was available. Jesus said, I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly. Opposite and different must also be undeniably better.

Believers in scripture became opposite and different after conversion. These people also became better. When Saul became Apostle Paul he was different but better. James and John sons of thunder became opposite and better. Do not be satisfied with being opposite and different, Jesus wants you to be better in a manner that attracts others to your God.

May God enable us to live better lives. May God help us take an opposite direction from the world, but a better one. May our lives be different and better as God intends, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
