John 6:11 – Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
What do you do when you have so many needs and very little income? When the money available is way less than your most urgent needs. When your income can’t even address all your priorities. When all you have is less than all you need.
Jesus had a tired and hungry crowd. Men were five thousand. Women were probably the same number or more. Children were much more than five thousand, maybe double the number of adults. All of the hungry mouths ready to be fed were no less than approximately twenty thousand. Yet Jesus and His disciples had nothing to feed them.
After asking around, Jesus was given a boy’s lunch as the only food available to feed the approximately twenty thousand hungry mouths. One boy’s lunch to feed five thousand men besides women and children? One boy’s lunch was meagre in comparison to the people who were expected to eat it.
What do you do when the solution you have is not adequate to address the problem? What do you do when all you have after struggling is less than the problem at hand? You need one thousand for rent but all you have is a measly one hundred. What do you do?
Jesus took the measly meagre lunch and gave thanks. Jesus was grateful for the obviously inadequate lunch. Jesus said a prayer of appreciation to God for a lunch that was too little to feed the hungry people around Him.
The first thing you do when all you have is too little to address your problems is to give thanks to God. Be truly grateful to God. Thank God that this little is like a seed that when planted it will grow to be bigger than we expect. First reaction to the little you get that is inadequate for the problem is to thank God.
The reason why our measly meagre little has never grown is we were never grateful for it. If you are not grateful it would not expand to meet your needs. Trust God and thank Him even when you don’t know how it will work.
1 Kings 18:44 – The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”
When Elijah had prayed seven times for rain, a small measly meagre cloud the size of a man’s hand arose. That cloud was so small to produce water enough for one man to shower, yet for it Elijah was grateful. He needed rain but a small tiny cloud has appeared. Elijah thanked God and ran to shelter from the rain he believed would fall. When you have a big need and a small answer comes, do what Jesus did, thank God for it.
Zechariah 4:10 – “Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the LORD that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?”
Do not despise any small thing that comes as an answer to prayer. Do not despise any small thing that comes from God. Do not despise anything small if God is in it. The small meagre measly little, with God is more than enough. Twelve baskets will remain out of that measly meagre. Trust God when all you have is measly meagre. Thank God for it, do not despise it!
John 6:11 – Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
After giving thanks, Jesus distributed the meagre lunch. Distribution is an act of faith. You distribute knowing it’s not enough and if you get stuck you know God will provide. Distribution is going forward implementing plans with the little resources.
Elijah gave thanks for the rain when he saw the small cloud. He distributed or acted in faith by telling the king to run and shelter from rain. He too ran. Once you give thanks, you distribute!
When the money you have received as income is so little, thank God for it. Thank God in prayer. Thank God by returning tithes and offerings. Then go ahead and distribute by spending it on your priorities. Give thanks for the meagre and then distribute.
When your health is poor, you don’t have many days of good health, what do you do? Give thanks for the few days and use them to the maximum before pain returns. Give thanks for the meagre and then distribute.
When you have done your best in school and some poor grades come out, and this is the best you can, what do you do? Give thanks for the measly performance and use it where it can apply to move on in life. You may have to begin low but with God in it, greatness is your portion. Give thanks for the meagre and then distribute.
Whatever too little you have, thank God for it and then go ahead and use it by faith. Give thanks for the meagre and distribute it. It will be more than enough and twelve baskets will remain, in Jesus’s name, Amen!

Give thanks and move on in faith, planning even with the little. Faith in Action
Amen! Amen.
Amen and Amen.
Little is much when God is in it.
Thank you bishop for the word. God bless you.
Amen. God bless you. I have a question, should one distribute offerings to those we judge needy, not bringing to church?
Any money you give the needy is offering. The church has also planned to spend offerings from you in order to run activities in your local church. As you help the needy, dont forget to give the church an offering to facilitate its operations that also benefit you.
